A/N: Ok this is my first attempt to publish something on fanfiction. I've tried writing before but I thought they started to get really bad as I continued so I kept them.
Thanks to Anna (can't write penname), my friend, for helping me and beta-ing this story in school! :D Thanks also for Jane descendant of Apollo for giving me moral support. ;)
After Harry Left with McGonagall, I went out of the Hospital Wing feeling everyone's eyes on me. Especially the eyes of one mousy-brown haired Auror. I went to sit down under the tree Prongs, Padfoot, Wormtail and I used to go to during our free time. The tree was by the lake so I could clearly see the crescent moon over it.
I sighed, remembering the argument we had in front of everyone. Now everyone knew why Dora's been depressed the whole year. The whole year I have been trying to keep her at arm's length and denying her all the time. But when I saw how Fleur acted with Bill after being attacked by Greyback made me start having second thoughts about trying to push Dora away.
'Maybe I was wrong trying to push her away,' a voice in my head said.
'I was right to keep her away,' another voice said.
'No! You love her, you should just go with it,' the other said.
The voices kept arguing but I knew the second voice was winning. So right there and then I made up my mind.
"Hey. The moon's beautiful isn't it?" a voice behind me said.
I turned around and saw Dora walking towards me. I thought that this was the right time to tell her my decision. She sat beside me and joined in staring at the lake. She pulled her knees to her chest and rested her chin on them.
"Look, Dora, I-" I started but she interrupted me.
"I know Remus. You're too old, too poor and too dangerous for me. I get it and I'm tired of it. That's why I'm here to tell you I give up."
I was confused. I thought she wanted to be with me and here I am now, about to tell her what she wants, and she suddenly says she's giving up.
"Huh?"
"I give up. I'm tired of you saying the same things over and over just to push me away. I'm saying I'll stop trying to convince you. I know you will not change your mind anyway. So there, I'm giving up."
"That wasn't what I was about to say."
Now it was her turn to look confused. When she looked at me I could see there was a small spark of hope in her eyes.
"What? What was it then?"
"This."
Then I leaned forward and caught her lips with mine. She was surprised at first but she got over it and responded to the kiss. The kiss itself was slow and sweet as if both of us were unsure of it. We broke apart but I left my forehead to rest on hers.
"Remus Lupin, you git! You could have just done that sooner!" she said grinning.
"I love you too," I said while putting a strand of her newly pinked hair behind her ear, "You're not giving up anymore are you?"
"Of course not! Not after that. Why would I?"
I just smiled at her.
R&R :)
