Happy New Year! ^^ codyhobgood271 requested a New Years One-Shot, so here it is! Very short, but that's life.

The Party in the Park was new this year. The student body was invited to the park to celebrate the New Year with friends, family, and festivities. The trees were still all decorated with fairy lights from Christmas. The shelters over some of the tables were good for keeping out the harsh cold wind that at random points throughout the evening chose to rip through the park and shock the teenagers and their family members.
Bubbles, however, was perfectly warm that evening. She had on her heaviest coat, her thickest scarf, her warmest mittens, and her toastiest hat. She sat in front of a large bonfire with her sisters and some friends, cheerfully sipping a mug of hot cocoa. She wasn't discluded from the conversation, but she wasn't really participating, either. Her thoughts were centered on something else as she, in between sips of her drink, worked on a charcoal drawing due in her art class when she went back to school on Tuesday. She was so entranced in her work, in fact, that she didn't notice the sudden sweep of silence that went over her circle of friends. It took her several moments to realize that the static in the air had shifted. Her friends were uncomfortable. She looked up from her sketchbook.
There, descending from Mojo's old lair, were the Rowdyruff Boys. And they were approaching the circle.
"Hey, guys," they said as they approached, grinning. It was meant as a greeting to all of the people in their little circle of boys and girls, but everyone knew who they were really talking to.
Blossom flipped her hair in a way that appeared a bit snobby to Bubbles, personally. But, then again, Blossom didn't know how Bubbles felt.
"What are you guys doing here?" she asked, not looking at them. "Don't you know that nobody here wants to spend their last few minutes of the year with you guys?"
"Oh, I don't know about that, Red," Brick said with a grin and a smirk directed at Bubbles.
Bubbles felt her face flushing bright red. She knew the others hadn't missed his smirk.
"Bubbles?" Buttercup said, crossing her arms. "Is there something you gotta tell us?"
"Um...no?" she replied, smiling. "I don't think so."
Boomer chuckled, and Blossom and Buttercup moved their attention to him.
Bickering ensued, but Bubbles was no longer paying any attention. She was thinking.
New Year. What did that mean? It meant change. It meant new starts.
Maybe it meant telling the truth?
She had 10 seconds.
She got to her feet.
The countdown began.
10
The other students went to their parents, but the girls and the boys stayed where they were, facing each other head on.

"Girls," Bubbles began.

She took a deep breath.

"I have a confession to make."
6
Another deep breath.

Did she want to do this?
4
She didn't have to.

"The truth is, Boomer and I -"
2
"That is to say, that we-"
1!
She didn't have to do anymore explaining. The moment Boomer kissed her, she knew the girls understood what she was trying to say.
Boomer laughed. "Happy New Year, Bubbles."
Bubbles laughed and gave him one more kiss before she turned to her sisters, who were staring at the two with wide eyes. She shrugged. "Surprise?"
