(i've got a lover, a love like a legend...)
she was lightning on a parched day, the sharp tang of rain on earth, with her secretive smiles and flashing eyes. she was everyone's sweetheart, the girl with brilliance in every gesture, the woman who was radiant, like the untouchable sun.
he was the harsh wind, tearing through the woods at howling speeds, destruction in his wake. lurking at the edge, with his silver tongue and wicked lies, no one really knew him, did they? he was consumed by the shadows, living a lie and he was broken, shattered glass shining in the darkness.
but they still fit together, the secrets and lies forgotten – because what did that matter when they were together?
(i'm such a fool to pay this price...)
love was not really what they felt for each other, no.
for her, he was the freedom she craved, the key that unlocked her gilded cage. and for him, she was a representation of all he wanted, the greed and resentment.
for them, infatuation was irresistible, something they couldn't – wouldn't ignore.
and so, when his hand curled around hers and she leaned into him, watching the world pass by beneath them, there was silence – and peace.
(every single night pray the sun arise, but...)
they knew that it wasn't meant to last.
the whispered words, the fiery insults and the stolen kisses… everything about them was so unpredictable and explosive. they were crumbling with each step they took together.
two different worlds, so far apart – she knew that it was fleeting. and she still let him pull her down into the lovely depths in which he lived. he was everything she wanted.
(and everything that was out of her reach.)
she was slipping away, he felt it. and he clung to her, not ready to let her go, not ready to let that small slice of heaven escape him.
they would never end, a vicious loop of anger and tears and love.
(it's coming down, down, coming down)
(coming down, down, coming down)
