He sat enveloped in the night's bitter darkness, the numbing cold stinging his cheeks. His teeth chattered and his body shivered, he wanted to be out of the cold, out of the darkness. Why had he been abandoned? Why was he left in the cold? Was he not good enough? What was wrong with him? What was so horrible and grotesque about him that made his parents abandon him. .? Thats what he asked himself every day. . .But there was never an answer. .
December 25th, a day where families got together and exchanged gifts. Yet, Arthur sat alone in a small alleyway trying to stay warm. Lights flickered in the windows of the small apartments, laughter could be heard from inside. Oh how Arthur wished he could be inside with them. . Getting presents, eating a christmas feast and then getting tucked into bed.
He remembered one christmas with his family, but it was far from happy and joyful. He didn't remember much, he only remembered having no food to eat, no presents and lots of yelling. He thought about his family, he remembered having some brothers, though he didn't remember how many. .
Arthur sighed and wrapped his arms around his torso, he just wanted to be happy for once. . And in the darkness of the night his eyes fluttered shut, his last thought before he was pulled into sleep was if he would wake the next morning. . Part of him wished he wouldn't . . .
