Sitting there on the couch, Kaito watched Luka pick up the boxes of her stuff and walk out to Meiko's car with them. They had been together forever and now just because of one little thing they were over? How was that even possible? It made no sense to Kaito who was still in shock that his girlfriend was leaving him. They had plans to get married in four months and now this!
"Luka! Hurry up!" Meiko called from outside, "I promised Miku and Rin we'd be at their place in a hour!"
"I know, I'm trying to hurry! But maybe if you and Kaito would help a little this would go a lot faster. Oh but wait. Kaito doesn't care now does he?" She said coldly avoiding eye contact with either of the two.
Looking up Kaito swear he thought he saw a tear roll down her cheek, but it couldn't be. If it was, then why was she leaving him? Wiping his face so she didn't see him crying he got up took the box she carrying. Not saying a word he carried it out to car, but as he walked outside he looked down and what was in the box surprised him.
It was a box full of the stuff he had given her. He was sure that, unless it had some other function, the girl wouldn't usually keep the guys stuff. There was the worn out old hat he had given her to keep her warm, the stuffed fish he had won her at a carnival game, but the most surprising was the fact that she was keeping was a picture of them when they went on their first date.
Setting the box down on the steps he picked up the picture and began to cry. He didn't care this time, he wanted her to see him like this. She needed to. "Kai?" Luka asked using his nickname. But before she even had time to breathe he wrapped her in a warm loving embrace.
"I'm sorry I couldn't have been better for you," he whispered in her ear. Kissing the crown of her head softly he held her for just a bit longer, and she didn't protest. In fact she too began to cry. As they stood there Luka wondered what she was doing leaving him in the first place. But before she had time to say anything his arms dropped.
Kaito gave her another kiss on her forehead, put the picture back, and picked up the box again. He proceeded to carry her stuff to Meiko's car. Luka opened her mouth to call out to him, but she couldn't form the words. And before she knew what she was doing, she was in Meiko's car driving away, leaving Kaito on the curb to sit and cry.
