A/N: This is post-Alyzon Whitestarr – one of my all time favourite books. :) Too bad I don't own it…and the university library has lost its only copy. Anyway, this is written for the 100_poems challenge, poem 42/100 and day 22. Also written for the 5,10,20,50,70,100 fandoms challenge, fandom 30: Alyzon Whitstarr.
Oh, and Serenity Whitestarr is the "she" here, hence the title.
Serenity
She had been burning.
Burning
But there were only embers now
in the hollow of her heart.
She had tethered on the brink
of a flaming death too long
it seemed
Even if she walked away with her body
intact
she couldn't say the same for her soul.
What is it that she wanted now?
She didn't know.
