Simple, short and sweet. Random oneshot.
Enjoy! :D
I swear to Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix, I do not own you. If I did, the only thing that would change is that ZEXION DOESN'T [Harsh expletive] DIE.
A tall, aproned man sighed as he stared at the white wall.
Demyx wants me to paint all of this? It was a large room with three windows on the left side, and a door to the front. To what point and purpose will be gained by me painting this room blue?
It was a classroom on the sixth floor of a very well-known and well-respected school, Xemnas University. He rolled his eyes.
How Xemnas convinced Ansem to let him open a school is beyond me… He sighed again and dragged his stepstool over to the right wall, opposite the large, open windows.
And now, to begin.
Taking a large paintbrush carefully from his bag, he dipped it into an open can of steel-blue paint and applied a single layer to the wall.
I'll need at least three coats with this. It's too light and watery. What company is this, anyway? Glancing down at the can's label, he rolled his aquamarine eyes when he saw that the company was scratched off.
Good job, Demyx.
It took him several hours to apply three coats to the first wall, and three hours more to paint the three coats on the other walls (as the windows lessened the space needed to be painted).
Taking off his cap exhaustedly, he sat down on the stepstool and breathed deeply, relaxing, when he heard a laugh from the doorway.
Oh Kingdom Hearts…
"Zexion…" a red-haired man greeted silkily. The painter glared at him.
"Having fun, Axel? Watching me work as you do nothing but stare and laugh?" he asked snidely. He did not need his coworker to bother him today.
"Yes, actually. But I was wondering if you'd—"
"Don't touch the paint!" hissed Zexion, as he shooed Axel away from the room, not bothering to hear what he had to say.
It was after the paint dried twenty minutes later did he notice that Axel had stuck a "GOOD JOB!" sticker onto the wall, effectively messing up the paint.
He facepalmed and stared at the ceiling.
"Axel, I'm going to murder you."
"Did you ask him?"
"Nah, I couldn't. Schemer didn't let me finish since he was so protective of his paint. Bet he didn't notice the sticker I gave him."
Roxas looked at him incredulously.
"You gave Zexion a sticker?" Axel nodded sagely.
"Yes, I did. And—"
"Hey Axel! Zexion's looking for you!" called out Demyx cheerfully.
Roxas poked Axel.
"This is Zexion's supervisor?"
"Yeah: told you it should be the other way around. Yes, Demyx, how can I help you?"
"Zexion said something about paint and a sticker and messing it up and he's looking for you!"
"Really? Well, I guess I'll go talk to him then. Thank you, Nocturne."
"you're welcome, Axel!" He peered at Roxas curiously.
"Are you a student?" he asked, smiling. Roxas shook his head.
"No. I'm graduating college next year at Hollow Bastion University." The mulleted man frowned.
"Aww, that's too bad. I'm a supervisor here! And one of my workers is Zexion! He's a painter! And I told him to paint the sixth floor classroom right there a color exactly the same as his hair! It's such a nice color… blueish, like water. Except water's clear and the blue is only the reflection of the sky. Have you ever been to the ocean?" Roxas looked around and flipped open his cell.
"Uhh… sorry Demyx, Axel's calling me. I gotta go. Bye!"
Demyx looked at the retreating back curiously.
"Nice kid. Too quiet, though…" He smiled, oblivious to Axel's yells and the sounds of things crashing.
