That, I'll Do

Marooned and a stranger
I took up your cause
Constrained by tradition
And fettered by laws
But to admit with dignity
My people's flaws
That, I'll do.

Hands of friendship extended
But I withhold trust
You ask why I stay aloof
I tell you, I must
But maybe it's right to
Intervene, just this once
That, I'll do.

Fragments of my knowledge
So carefully doled
Reluctant to take a more
Proactive role
But to help you accomplish
Our one common goal
That, I'll do.

Victory's in sight
The choice should be clear
But the price of success
Is too high, I fear.
So to uphold integrity
And all you hold dear
That, I'll do.
