Just as they were leaving
Disclaimer: I probably wouldn't be writing this if I owned ice age.
Ellie and Manny were both woolly mammoths. But only a few animals who had lived in the valley knew the love story between the two of them was like; the two of them had their ups and downs, arguments and reconciliations, the confusion of Ellie being deluded to think that she was a possum, and the responsibility of saving the species. (To put it simply, there was a rumour that they were both the last mammoths alive on Earth. It was not until now that they had shown the true affection to each other. And now, it was likely that they were to live an extraordinary life together.
As Manny and Ellie locked trunks, the herd that had just passed them trumpeted loudly into the air. Both mammoths knew that this was just a start to their new relationship, but since the flood had wiped out all of the land's vegetation, they also knew that their first priority was to find a new home.
After almost a minute, the two of them finally broke apart.
"You know what?" Ellie asked Manny, as the mammoth herd (figuratively and literally) began to depart towards the north. "We should maybe stick with the others. I'm kinda used to it that way."
"Sure," Manny replied, staring at the fissure towards the south that his friends were exiting from. He turned to his new love interest.
"Maybe we should surprise them." he added thoughtfully.
They both smiled at each other, then sneakily followed the sloth and the Sabre, who were calmly walking away together.
The seemingly oddest mammoth couple walked quietly behind Sid and Diego, so they wouldn't be noticed, as Crash and Eddie, Ellie's adoptive twin possum brothers climbed onto their sister's back.
"Fine," Diego said to Sid. But I'm not gonna carry you."
"Oh c'mon, buddy, for old times sake…"
"I'll carry him!" Manny interrupted Sid, grabbing him by the neck, and putting him on his furry back.
Diego looked up at Manny.
"But your herd's leaving!" Diego exclaimed.
"We are now!"
