Title: Different
Chapter: 1, Not Another Number
By: The Miserable
Disclaimer: It's not mine. If I owned Harry Potter, or if I was making money for writing, I wouldn't spend nearly this much time online.
Rating- PG. A bit of strong language, nothing serious. It might up depending on what I write.
"WHAT, praytell, do they see in him?" Cassie (Cassiopeia Star by birth) asked her friend Lily Evans as they entered the Great Hall.
In the center of the Gryffindor table sat Sirius Black surrounded by nearly ten girls, including a few upperclassmen and a Ravenclaw. Sirius, in his fifth year just like both Lily and Cassie, had already been with most of the girls attending Hogwarts at least once.
Lily smirked. "He's not quite as bad as you think."
"Of course not," said Cassie. "Not if you're going out with his best friend!"
It was common knowledge that there was no separating Lily Evans and James Potter. Cassie planned on being at their wedding when they had finally gotten out of school.
Lily shrugged. "He's not bad in general. You ought to give him a chance."
At this, Sirius had looked up and spotted the pair inching towards the table and grinned. "Alright there?" Lily nodded, smiling. Reluctantly, Cassie felt herself do the same.
"Speaking of mating rituals... who *are* you planning on going to the ball with?" Lily grinned a smile similar to that of the Cheshire cat. "Sure you wouldn't want to keep your, *ahem*, options open?"
With a groan Cassie replied, "So they aren't just rumors? He really *has* run out of girls in the school to court?" Lily suddenly glanced at something just over Cassie's shoulder. "Thank you very much, Lil, but I'd prefer *not* being another number."
There was a sudden gust of wind at her back and she turned. Sirius was rushing out of the Great Hall. *Quite touching,* she thought. *I'd truly feel bad if his bloody fan club wasn't following him when he stormed out.*
Looking up, she saw Lily glaring at her. "What?"
Lily just shook her head and followed Sirius. Perplexed, Cassie continued eating the bits and scraps that she piled onto her plate. It wasn't her fault.
And as long as she told herself that, she would believe it to be true.
