Wally woke up to the blaring alarm on his dresser across the room. 'Arty must've moved it over there,' He thought to himself. He knew when he fell asleep that it had been on his bedside table. But its proximity to him was what usually made him sleep another few hours instead of getting up on time. With the alarm all the way on the other side of the room he actually had to get up to turn it off.
He sighed to himself and sat on the edge of the bed for a while, the loud alarm still going in the back of his mind. It was going to be a long day, he just knew it.
Artemis rustled from her position on the other side of the bed from him. She cracked open her eyes to see Wally, for once, not moving. She sat up and extended a hand to his shoulder, making him jump slightly. It was her turn to sigh as she enveloped him in a hug.
With a quick peck on the cheek she jumped out of bed and turned off the alarm. "Come on Baywatch, you're the one with a morning class," Artemis urged him up and into the bathroom. "Take a shower and get ready, I'll make you breakfast."
Wally complied in a zombie-like state, it would be a complete lie to call him a morning person. He showered, shaved, brushed his teeth, all the usual things and walked back through their bedroom and into the kitchen.
He smiled at the sight that awaited him. Artemis was dancing to "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" and slightly singing along as she buttered toast and flipped pancakes. Her undone hair flying around her as she moved to the music. Mid-turn she saw Wally and stopped her antics. A remote was soon in her hand as she turned off the music, still blushing from being caught.
"You know, I could see you in a polka dot bikini, not yellow. Defiantly green though. Maybe you'll be getting one for your birthday and we'll go to the beach," Wally kept talking as he slowly walked towards his girl. His girl that he would never let himself lose.
Artemis laughed at him, "That seems like more of a present for you." She flipped the last of the pancakes onto a plate and set it on the table, same with the toast.
Wally closed the space between them and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I get a present every time I see you; think of the bikini as a bonus."
She reached her arms around his neck and kissed him softly. This was how she was meant to be, happy and in love. And nobody would take that away from her, nobody would take him away from her.
They broke the kiss and Wally shot a glance at the table. It had two huge piles of pancakes on it with a large bowl of eggs and two heaping plates of bacon and toast. "Oh, babe, you know me so well," He gave her a peck on the forehead and began to dig into the buffet waiting for him.
Artemis managed to grab some food before Hurricane Wally hit and all the food was gone. At least she didn't have to worry about leftovers.
They lost track of time in their constant back and forth bantering and Wally finally looked up at the clock. "Crap, I'm gonna be late for class," He exclaimed as he jumped from his seat and grabbed his stuff and his jacket. He was just about to leave when Artemis called out behind him.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" She asked.
Wally rushed up, gave her a kiss on the cheek and a quick goodbye. Then he rushed off to class before he was late for the hundredth time.
Artemis started cleaning up breakfast as she mumbled to herself, "I told him that he shouldn't have taken a morning class."
