They had been there for about two hours now (which to them seemed dreadfully longer). Naruto had started to stamp around, grumbling about their sensei's tardiness making Sakura, who was already at the end of her patience seeth more with irritation. Sasuke, who had been the earliest to arrive, just quietly stood there, leaning by the wire fence, trying not to pay his noisy teammates any attention.
Suddenly, there was a puff of smoke and Kakashi appeared, standing on top of the wire fence.
"Good morning," Kakashi greeted.
"YOU'RE LATE!" Naruto and Sakura yelled in unison as each angrily pointed a finger at him. The two (and even Sasuke who had just returned to Konoha) were waiting for the reason he will give for his tardiness even if his excuses were rarely plausible and mostly ridiculous. A couple of times he had said "I met an old woman and helped her carry her baggage" (to which Sakura said "Seriously sensei, you're such a magnet for old ladies carrying heavy loads"). He had also given "I met a girl, so I danced" ("Can you dance for us too?" Naruto had asked). And there was also "I got lost in the road of life" (to which Naruto said "For an elite jounin, you get lost too much").
"I'm sorry," Kakashi said with a sheepish smile as he scratched the back of his head. "I was busy..."
"LIAR!" Naruto and Sakura interrrupted.
"...making out with Rin," Kakashi finished.
Naruto and Sakura were so surprised their jaws dropped dangerously low. A trickle of blood started to come out of Naruto's nose as he tried to imagine their sensei doing what he just said. Sasuke, looking unaffected at all, mumbled something that sounded like "perv."
Still smiling and scratching the back of his head, Kakashi jumped down from the fence to join his students on the ground. Once recovered from the initial shock, Naruto walked over to their sensei, nudged Kakashi on the side with his elbow and asked "So, sensei. How was it?" (to which Naruto got a painful smack on the head by Sakura).
