A/N: {blinks} whoa. I had an awesome songfic idea that works for what I'm writing. SO IMMA USE IT, SEE YA LATER, SUCKERS! This is high on the angst meter. VERY high. Set in TLO, right after Luke stabs himself. I don't own PJO, or Owl City, or Meteor Shower. (P.S. Meteor Shower is short. Very few lyrics.) Have fun with a no one's POV!
I can finally see,
That you are right there beside me.
Annabeth shivered; spasms wracked her body.
Percy looked at her, a deep sadness filling his eyes. He knew she was dying. He knew there was nothing he could do about it. He bowed his head and looked down.
Annabeth smiled a slight, sad smile. "Don't cry yet, Seaweed Brain," she whispered. "I'm still here now."
Percy gazed at Annabeth again. Love, and hope, seemed to pour out of him. "I can go get Apollo, or Hades, or-"
Annabeth quieted him with the touch of a finger to his lips. "Percy, shh. You and I both know it's my time."
Percy sighed a pitiful sigh. "Annabeth-" he had so many things he wanted to say to her, things he'd never had time to say. He chose the simplest. "I love you."
Annabeth smiled, her face filling with true happiness. "I've been waiting a long time to hear you say that. I love you too, Percy."
I am not my own,
For I have been made new.
Annabeth breathed out for a last time. The room, with all its wreckage, seemed to grow still.
Percy gazed blankly at Annabeth; her lifeless body was limp in his arms, her eyes glazed over, staring up at the cloudless sky. The moon and the stars shone brightly, reminding Percy that life would go on. But for him it wouldn't.
Nico walked up behind Percy. "Percy," he said softly, putting a hand on the older boy's shoulder.
Percy whipped around, a maniacal look in his eyes. "What?" he hissed.
Nico, startled, took a step back. "Percy, what's wrong?"
Percy laughed like a madman. "Oh, nothing," he whispered with an intensity. "Just that the love of my life is dead, that's all."
"Percy," Nico said nervously. "Annabeth has already made it to Elysium. She chose to be reborn."
The old Percy came back for a moment. "She… she did?" Then the insane Percy regained control. He shook his head and shuddered violently. "Oh, maybe I should join her."
Please don't let me go;
I desperately need you!
In the back of his mind, Percy, the real Percy, was trying to find a manual override. He most definitely didn't want to commit suicide. He knew that Annabeth would want him to live on. But when she had died, a little part of him had… snapped. His mind divided into two sides: rational, and insane. The rational part had been shoved to a little panic room the insane part created, as the insane part overpowered it all.
So when Percy found out that the whole room was a giant 'open' button, he smacked himself on the head. He jumped up and landed hard on the floor, opening a small door. He crawled out through it and ran to the front of his mind, shoving the other part away and sending it to a completely locked room.
"Nico, I'm really sorry," Percy apologized. The panic room had had a TV that let him see what was going on outside.
Nico cautiously approached Percy. "If you're going to go insane again, don't commit suicide," he warned.
Percy laughed, his voice cracking with sadness. He automatically brushed a hand up to his eyes. To his surprise, he found a few cold tears there. "Nico," Percy said. "You said that Annabeth chose to be reborn. Do you know where?"
Nico shook his head no. "I'm sorry. I don't."
Annabeth, hold on to any memory you can of me, Percy silently begged. I need you.
