Written for the wonderful 2D, who is a great HoH and met her goals for round 10!

He was drowning in darkness, sinking further and further, with no reason to swim up. He was trapped in the lifestyle he'd lived in for so long, no way of escape, no reason to want to. Blaise was a pureblood, he was better than almost everyone else at the party, or so his mother told him. He had been a death eater during the war, more out of duty to his mother than anything else, not that it mattered, the world would view him how they wanted to view him, he couldn't change that.

Though he wouldn't admit it to those sitting around him, he was bored out of his mind, no one had made conversation with him, all too busy talking and babbling about blood purity to pay any attention to him. That was, until Ginny Weasley arrived, with her kind yet strong voice, breaking the silence that his side of the table held.

"Can I sit here?" His gaze had lazily traveled up to her eyes, they held warmth like he'd not seen for a while. Despite those surrounding him he smiled and her and nodded, gesturing to the empty seat beside him, the one farthest away from his mother's companions.

The event passed by quicker now that she was here, with her stunning beauty and incredible intelligence, holding a conversation with her was enough to distract him from the harsh reality of the world. They talked and talked, without a care in the world, though too soon the party ended. Ginny left to go be with Harry, and Blaise was alone again. Like it was before.

Like it would always be.
