Narcissa looked at her husband, limp on the couch half empty bottle of cheap whisky dangling loosely from his hand and all she could manage to feel was sadness.
The war wasn't over for him, she realized, and never would be. He couldn't accept that they'd lost, that the name Malfoy no long meant anything but traitor trash. All of their wealth and privilege had gone out the door the moment the Potter boy defeated the Dark Lord, never to return.
With a resigned sigh she tucked the worn out blanket around his shoulders, setting the bottle away. Like always.
