Sky Reflections
My desire lingers the way clouds melt into rain. Let it fall away. Let me fall away.
"What about that one?" she asked, pointing to the sky.
He thought for a moment. "It looks like a cloud."
She hummed, "It looks like a bear… holding… a cobra."
This was why Ishida was not particularly fond of clouds.
They meant so many things already, but when he found himself lying in a clearing with none other than Inoue Orihime he discovered that clouds could not only mean different things but they could look like a million different things at once, too.
"But--"
She gasped, "Look! It changed! What do you think it looks like now?"
He squinted through his glasses, willing the condensed mass of water vapor to transform into something more recognizable.
"It… ah, looks like rain, Inoue-san."
"Oh. I think the bear is eating the cobra now…"
Ishida grimaced. "I-Inoue…san, we ought to leave, it might rain… and I don't have an umbrella…"
He looked up to the sky. He was sure it was going to rain, although he did not know when. The clouds moved slowly, but surely, teasing him as his worry of an upcoming storm grew stronger.
"It's okay, Ishida-kun," she said, giving him a small smile, "Look! That cloud looks like an umbrella so maybe it'll shield us from the rain!"
The corners of his lips turned upwards ever so slightly. "I hope it does."
