After a yearlong hiatus, I've returned to writing! I'm a bit rusty, though, so you'll have to excuse me if it sucks. Reviewers get a crepe, because everyone knows crepes are much better than cookies~

Anyway, I just finished reading Kobato. lately, and I love it. I thought the world needed more Kobato. fic, which is hard to come by. Well, I'm going to stop blabbing on, because I know that no one wants to hear that. Oh, and I obviously use way too many commas.

Please enjoy.

Summary:

Sayaka-sensei reflects on how much has changed since the little dove with the warm smile entered her life.

There was a time in my life, not long ago, when I had no hope. The debt would never be paid off, regardless of how hard Fujimoto-kun and I worked. Nothing I could do would stop the inevitable- the nursery would be closed, and I knew this for a fact. But, unpredictable as weather, people change, and feelings change, and things you thought you knew can vanish in the wind.

"You don't have enough help?"

"That's right."

"Is it a big problem?"

"Err, well, yes."

"So if someone were to heal you, would you find it healing, maybe?"

"Hmm. I…"

"It'd be healing, wouldn't it?!"

"Well…sure!"

"Please let me help you out!"

And so, a new hope was born. Not only for myself, but for Yomogi Nursery as well. Just when I had lost all faith, a little dove descended from heaven and brought happiness to us all.

As dark as times were for me, I now realize that they were only dark because I viewed them that way. It sounds silly, but with Kobato-chan's optimistic encouragement, I feel as if things might turn out alright in the end. It's unbelievable how much one person can change you.

I'm not the only one who's been changed, either. I see the way Fujimoto-kun looks when he's thinking of her. The way he acts around Kobato-chan is different than I've ever seen of him. It's nice to imagine that one day, the two of them will find happiness with each other.

I smile as I survey the game of soccer the children are playing with her. I glance at Fujimoto-kun, who is watching as well.

"It seems as though they're having a good time, don't you think?" I ask him.

"Hm," he replies.

Suddenly Kobato-chan trips over the ball and lands in the grass. Worried, the children all surround her. She simply picks herself up and flashes a smile, causing them to laugh.

Each time I see that warm smile, I feel as though my heart is beginning to heal.

Wow, that was a lot shorter than I thought it was. I wrote it in the middle of the night on my iPod Touch. XD

Hope that you enjoyed~
