Note: Muggle!AU, Thief!AU
Something terrible had happened. The Greengrass heirloom, an onyx diamond ring, had been stolen right from under their noses. Because it was supposed to be under Astoria's protection, there was going to be a great deal of trouble for her if it isn't returned.
Astoria cursed under her breath once she knew that she was alone in the study. She cursed her sister for not taking the responsibility. She cursed the family name for their ideals regarding their jewels. She cursed whoever stole the ring in the first place.
Running a hand through her hair, Astoria looked around the study at the books and portraits displayed. Out of everything the thief could have taken, they chose the one thing she was sworn to protect.
"What am I going to do?" she asked herself.
There weren't many options to take. Going to the authorities didn't work; they only wrote a report about it and said they would 'look into it.' Even Astoria knew that they weren't going to do a damn thing unless someone was murdered or harmed.
Given her family, that might be Astoria if she didn't get the ring back.
God, what was she going to do? Steal the thing back herself? She didn't even know who or where–
Wait. There was one person that could help her.
The knowing expression and smirk on Blaise's face was enough to make Astoria swoon and glare at the same time. The mocha skinned man was leaning back in a large desk chair with his legs crossed on the desk. His hands were folded in his lap, fingers tapping against one another.
"So you need me to find a thief, locate your ring, and steal it back?" he asked, tilting his head at the woman.
Astoria kept her posture and any emotions suppressed as she lifted her chin. "It takes a thief to catch a thief," she said.
Blaise unfolded his hands and placed them on his chest. "You know just how to make a man feel special."
She rolled her eyes. "Will you help me, Blaise?"
"What's in it for me, exactly?" he asked. "You know unprofitable jobs aren't my style."
Astoria squared her jaw. It was a small price to pay for her life and her family's legacy. It also didn't hurt that Blaise had already taken her heart from their last encounter.
Her thoughts must have shown on her face because Blaise was in front of her, caressing her face. She hadn't noticed him moving at all.
"I don't need a kiss to accept the job, Tori," he drawled softly. "I'm a collector of many things, and I can get the job done."
Astoria nodded and stepped back away from his hands, emotions running through her that she didn't want to show. "Thank you. Contact me the second it's in your possession."
She turned on her heel and left his office. What she didn't know was that when she left, Blaise held his phone up to his ear after dialing a number.
"Theo, my man, give it a day and you can send the ring over to me. I've got what I wanted. Tori's going to be in my arms very soon."
