Sam awoke. It was 4:05. It was unusual for her to be awake at this time especially when her shift started at 8. Although, something was playing on her mind, something which had happened last night.
She could remember driving home, worrying about Tom not knowing where he'd gone after Ash had sent him home. She'd rung him again and again and again but he never answered. She'd driven back home only to see Tom appear in the shadows of dark, tears in his eyes. She hugged him tightly but remembered what had happened a few months ago when to be fair they both had too much to drink, surely it didn't mean anything to him did it?
She released him and stared longingly into his eyes wondering what she should do before Tom asked 'Can I stay?'. She was worried about him. She couldn't say no and leave him alone in the state he was in and plus she liked Tom. She opened the front door and he followed her in. Sam couldn't really remember what had happened next. From what she could remember Tom was being rather quiet which was unusual. They both sat on the sofa and she switched on the TV. Tom sat their staring at her, she could feel it but didn't want to turn around. She felt tired and stood up to go to bed when she realised Tom had fallen asleep on the sofa. She fetched him a blanket and stood their staring at him for a while admitting he did look rather cute and after all she enjoyed his company. She kissed his head, turned off the light and went up to bed.
Sam lay in bed wondering what was up with Tom and whether he was still asleep on her sofa. So she got out of bed and made her way downstairs.
