Author's note: This is the first drabble I've really ever written. Ever. Just some short Diego/Mia fluff. If it's liked, it may progress into a series of drabbles and/or one shots, but, who knows. Anyway, enjoy. (:
It hadn't gone away, he had just adapted to it.
The two to three hours of sleep that graced his body once a night. Insomnia had been in his life longer than any other girl, she curled herself around him when he settled down into bed and didn't let go until sunlight streamed into his bedroom. But it had always been this way, even before the muscle twitching and irregular heartbeat started. Caffeine merely ravaged his nervous system even further - and he felt his health dissipate every time mania gripped his insides and squeezed.
He didn't mind. It allowed for moments like this.
When her mouth lay parted, eyes completely relaxed behind the soft skin of her eyelids. His lips brushed over her skin, eliciting the sound that he loved so much. Always coy and under control, she was the must vulnerable in her sleep. She slept completely silently sans the quiet noises that would tumble out of her lips when he cupped his hand over a tender part of flesh. When long, course eyelashes blinked over her skin or a fingertip ghosted down her side - from shoulder to hip.
She never woke up, if she did, she would just smile with bleary eyes and bury her head between his neck and shoulder before striding back into sleep. But tonight she lay still - she had been up for days working on a seemingly unsolvable case. There was no such thing for that woman though, not with him pouring over evidence lists with her, brewing enough coffee to make their cheeks temporarily red and their movement quick and jumpy.
His lips moved silently over her jawline, the tip of his tongue tracing a line to her ear lobe. Her skin trembled under his touch and she murmured quietly in her sleep.
Diego.
A grin held his mouth in contempt as he pulled her closer to his body, burying his face in her hair.
