The streets were alight with candlelight. People were out of their houses and looking around at the beautiful night sky on Christmas Day. Some stayed in their houses eating warm ramen. Others were with friends giving gifts, but not me. I was sitting outside on a swing. The playground was now snow-covered. I creaked back and forth slowly holding a small box in my hands. It was orange, with a green bow; it stood out so greatly from the white surroundings. I pulled up the side of my coat. Christmas was here again. Many of my friends were out on a mission. One remained. I didn't know where he was really. I did know that this gift was for him.
I spent so much time picking it out, just for him. It wasn't something stupid like ramen, but a tad more special… At least I thought so. I'm not sure if he'll like it though… I hope he does. It was right here on this swing about two years ago, when he gave me a gift.
I was swinging alone, my dark blue hair brushing against my cheeks. The sun came down on the meadow before me. I was watching the younger kids play around with the flowers. I smiled to myself. They were having so much fun. They were free to do whatever they wish. I wish I could be like that sometimes…
I jumped slightly as a hand was put on my shoulder, "Hey Hinata."
I turned to see him standing there. He hopped onto the swing next to me. "How ya' doin?" he said.
"Fine…" I said. I could feel myself blushing. I looked back at the kids.
"Here, take this." He laid the thing on my lap, smiled and ran off following Sasuke screaming something about being a total jerk.
I laughed and looked down. It was a flower, small and shaded with light lavender. It was beautiful. I picked it up and held it under my chin.
That day was special. As was that gift. He'll never know how much that meant to me. I sat up and began to walk a few blocks. The snow speckled the bright orange box. Soon, I had reached his door. I knocked lightly.
"Hey Hinata!" said a familiar voice.
"Hello… here this i-is for you…" I handed him the present and said, "I must be g-going…"
I turned and walked away. After a few minutes I let out a huge sigh. I walked a tad slower, admiring the people walking contently around the streets of Kohona. You know what? Ever since I was little, I could never bring up the strength to be…me. And now more than ever, I feel like me. I don't know why, it could be because I just gave a present to him, or the fact that I'm just walking down the street. But I think it's because I'm smiling. I waved to Sakura and Ino, who were walking together huddled up in a little group, probably talking about how TenTen and Neji should be a couple or some thing when I heard my name.
I turned around; rolling my eyes figuring it was Neji, who was trying to track me down for some weird reason. Before another thought came to my head I felt the touch of warm lips against mine. I opened my eyes and almost died. Not seriously of course, but the kiss broke and I stood there smiling.
"Naruto…?"
"Yes?"
I kissed him back. I wrapped my hands around his neck and his found their way to my waist. We stood there like that for what seemed like an eternity. We stopped for air, and I bit my lip.
"Uhh… thanks for the Christmas present…" He said to me. And I laughed, loud.
