Prompt 114: Picture FiftyTwo and Prompt 60: Starter Sentence - "There was a flash and then only blackness."

There was a flash and then only blackness. Maedhros jolts upright, screaming. He doesn't realize at first that it is him who is screaming, but as soon as he realizes it is him, he shuts his mouth and wraps his arms around his quivering body, stubbornly holding the tears back. One half of him hopes no one heard his scream while the other - weaker - half begs for someone to come and comfort him. When no one comes, his sobs grow louder and more panic-filled. Vaguely, he is aware of someone wrapping their arms around him, but the show of affection only makes him cry harder, gasping for breath as the tears stream down his face. He feels himself slowly drifting off and he fights the urge, terrified of what he might find behind his eyelids. But only part of him, for the rest feels safe in the embrace and he finally gives in, shutting his eyes and allowing sleep to overcome him.
