The Tale of Two Blades
Chapter 0: The Awakening Begins
It was a cold summers eve and many creaturs had gathered at the Fearīkingu Shrine. You may think this was a problem. Don't worry, thee were creaturs of light such as pixies and elves. They had left their homes in The Great Healing. This was the day they had their magical energy replenished for the year. A fairly large number of these mystical creatures had decided they could live a year with half their magic. Why half and not none? You see, they all owned a Mahō no kyapuchajā (Magic Capture Jar) that turned the energy into a liquid form. To take effect, the user must drink it. It tasted of milk and honey. The one defect was that it needed to use half it's magic to turn into a liquid, thus making it pointless to send one person each year to gather the "Magic Juice", as refered to by the magical community, for the rest of their household if it was easy or in this case, safe to do so. Why aren't weren't they there? My, you like asking questions don't you? Anyways, the answer to that question is quite simple really. Murder. There had been a string of murders in the magical community (the light side anyways) linked to a group known to them as "The Reapers". They were known as "The Reapers" for a reason. At each murder, there was but one piece of evidence. A card. Each had a picture of a masked figure, each different from the next, wearing a black cloak with a hood. Each mask was a gruesome, yet intricate, mess of horns, eyes, mouths and fangs.
The Great Healing began well, with everyone feeling magic flowing through them. Suddenly, there was an ear-piercing scream. After hearing such a scream, many tried to get as far away from the shrine as possible. Fairies and brownies began falling left and right, creating more panic and chaos. After several minutes, it was silent and the fallen creatures began evaporate into dust. The blood of each creature began to move as well into crimson crosses over where their respective creature had been.
The was a bone rattling chuckle. "Delicious." said an ominous voice.
. . .
The next morning was beautiful. The sun was shining, with not a cloud in sight. Yui Miko woke up naturally. Toaday was Saturday. No training, no cooking her own breakfast, nothing that required her to get up anytime soon. She got up anyways and spread her curtains wide open. The brilliant (and slightly blinding) light felt good on her skin. She sighed and went off to do her usual saturday routine. She went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and her shoulder length brown hair (Not with the same utensil). She then went to take a quick shower before going to wash her face. She admired her face afterwards. Her beautiful grey eyes, her medium sized mouth and smallish nose looked as they always did. As she left to put on some clothes, she remembered something that made her twice as excited. She hastily put on her clothes, got her keys and ran to the door.
"I'll be back!" She called out, knowing no one would answer.
She went off to Sleepywood, where our story truly begins.
Not really a good first chapter (Hence why it's chapter 0), but this was sort of a really small intro of the main character and the plot.
