Arthur tossed on his bed, sighing loudly for what felt like the thousandth time that hour. No matter what he did he just couldnt quite seem to close his eyes without a certain manservant grinning in his minds eye, hands raised looking a little confused.

Brow crinkled, Arthur didnt understand why he couldnt stop thinking about that stupid moment, or whatever you could call it, in the corridor. It was nothing. Merlin was being an idiot again but what was new there?

Arthur felt a warm tingle rise through his body at the thought of hugging Merlin. Having Merlins skinny frame pressed against his own, encircling him in his arms and making up for all the time that Merlin had been away. Well, just away from him it seemed.

Surely he didnt actually want to feel Merlin that close? To hold him there, breathe in his scent.

Of course he did. Arthur bolted out of his bed and all but ran to Gaius and Merlins chambers.

Somehow Arthur managed to slow to a walk, others may describe his walk as a creep as he strode past Gaius sleeping in the corner, though Arthur, Crowned Prince of Camelot did not creep anywhere.

Pushing open the door to Merlins room, Arthur let out a sigh of relief; he had made it without drawing attention to himself.

Walking to Merlins bedside Arthur noticed that Merlin was sleeping soundly, clearly not consumed with thoughts of Arthur.

Frowning Arthur cleared his throat, in an awkward attempt to wake his manservant.

Merlin grunted and rolled over in his sleep. No consciousness at all.

Arthur cleared his throat again, louder than before. Nothing.

Arthur tried a third time, still receiving no response.

Finally, losing any idea of subtlety Arthur kicked Merlins bed, finally jolting Merlin into waking.

"Arthur?" he asked groggily, glancing at the window clearly wondering if he was late again.

"Stand up." Arthur said, his voice oozing authority while Arthur crossed his arms.

"Why?"

"Merlin, I need you to stand up right now."

"But why?"

"Merlin! Just, for once, dont ask questions. Just stand up." Arthur paused briefly before adding "Please."

Immediately a frown crossed Merlins face, clearly curious as to what could push Arthur into saying please. Merlin stood.

"Thank you." Arthur looked back towards the door, looking rather nervous. He took a deep breath, opened his arms and pulled Merlin into a hug.

Startled, Merlin did nothing to return the hug at first. His arms stayed limp at his sides while Arthur wrapped one arm around Merlins shoulders, his other hand resting on Merlins lower back.

"Uh, Sire. Are you alright?" Merlin asked awkwardly.

Arthur didnt reply, too caught up in the feeling of Merlin in his arms. He didnt know why he hadnt done this before. Merlin felt Arthurs arms tighten around him, prompting Merlin into returning the hug, his arms rising to encircle Arthurs waist.

Neither man knew how long they were standing there, but eventually Arthur yawned widely. Releasing Merlin Arthur smiled, turned on his heel and left Merlin standing in the middle of his room utterly confused.

Arthur couldnt quite wipe the smile off his face.
