Crying, the one thing she couldn't stand. Kids crying in the grocery store because they didn't get what they want, Beast Boy crying over Terra, babies crying because they're hungry. Though she didn't blame babies. She'd never blame them, because they couldn't control themselves. The sound of crying would never be pleasing.
Ever.
Fast forward 12 years. The woman is twenty-six, long purple hair flowing down her back and reaching her waist. The sounds of crying reached her ears. She laid back, smiling. It was the sweetest sound she'd ever heard. The wails echoed through the room, and Raven's smile grew bigger. It was a beautiful sound, purely wonderful music to her ears. As the doctor approached, Raven held out her arms. A soft blue blanket. Wrapped in the blanket was the source of the crying. Her baby boy. Her beautiful, green, baby boy. "Shh, shhh, mommy's here," Raven whispered, cuddling the baby to her chest. "Mommy's here…" Raven said again, kissing her son's forehead. She took a moment to observe her blessing from Heaven.
Her baby boy had green skin, normal ears, and a head full of violet hair. The blue cloth he was wrapped in covered most of his body, only his arms and head showed. Tiny fingers reached out to grab something, and a green hand came out of nowhere and startled her.
Little green fingers wrapped around a larger one. "He's beautiful, Rae-Rae. Beautiful…" Garfield Logan stated. Raven nodded in agreement, looking up from her baby and at her husband.
"I couldn't have done it without you, Garfield. I love you."
"I love you to, Raven," her husband replied, not taking his eyes off the baby. He was a father. This was the happiest moment of his life. He looked up at his wife and planted a gentle kiss on her lips. "Thank you…" he said, kissing her again.
"No, thank you Garfield," Raven replied. "I'm the happiest woman in the universe." Their baby cried, and they returned their attention to their son. "Mommy and Daddy are here. Our little boy…"
"We love you," they said in unison. The crying stopped almost immediately, and the baby cooed. Raven and Garfield laughed, smiling at their blessing.
Raven thought that her son's crying was the most wonderful sound in the world; she never counted on his cooing. The most wonderful sound ever… Raven thought.
