The Hunter Of Artemis
I crouched silently on the thin branch of the tree, waiting for the dracaena to slither her slimy body into the perfect position. "Maxwell Fael. I've been waiting for you to come see me." She moved a foot closer to Max, her poison covered sword drawn. I aimed my silver bow carefully and let the arrow fly. It struck her square in the chest and she dissolved into a puff of yellow dust. I dropped down from the tree and stepped up next to Max, retrieving my arrow then putting it back into my quiver. He saw my expression. "You really don't like this job do you?"
"Oh no, I love it! Being around the exact person I swore off is the best job ever!" I exclaimed sarcastically.
Max gave me the look that made my hear beat wildly. Not for the reason you think. I truly loved protecting him. The best part was that Lady Artemis picked me for the job herself. 'A personal favor' she had told me.
"Fine. I hate being away from my fellow Hunters. I miss them, and I miss Artemis, but I'm glad that she picked me." I told him.
"And the Hunter fell in love with the poet?" He joked.
I rolled my eyes and laughed. "You stupid son of Apollo, always hitting on the ones you can't have."
He chuckled. "Let's go, I don't want to meet any more dracaena today. I've had my fill."
"Is the mighty son of Apollo scared of a wittle monster?" I mocked him.
Max glared at me. I stifled a laugh. "Just be lucky we don't meet a Hydra. I'm kinda running out of arrows."
We walked in silence for a few minutes, my animal-like senses running on high alert, trying to keep us safe. "Uhh, Luna. You're kinda glowing." Max said, his eyes wide in awe.
I lifted my hand and inspected it. It had a silver glow around it, more than its usual shimmer that all Hunters have. I quickly checked my quiver. Sure enough, it was full of glowing silver broad-head arrows. I suddenly had an idea to prove my theory. "Max. Step behind me for a second." I told him, my thoughts spinning a mile a minute.
I pulled an arrow out of the quiver on my back, and fitted it on the string of my bow. I aimed it at a small leaf that was fluttering toward the ground 20 meters away. I pulled the string then let the arrow fly. It hit the leaf and stuck on a branch of a tree that was another 10 meters away. "The blessing of Artemis. She blessed me." I said to nobody in particular.
Max was standing behind me, trying to peel his jaw off of the forest floor. "How... You... Artemis?" He said pointing to the arrow, then to me and back again.
"I told you Artemis was better!" I told him, giggling.
