Harm's Apartment

Washington, D.C.

Harm awoke with a jump. Clod sweat pored down his back, his body quivering heavily. He had been aleep until he had a nightmare that his best friend, Diane, had been murdered.

"What a strange dream."

Thinking that the subconscious thought was only a way of showing how much he missed Diane, Harm reluctantly dragged himself out of bed and after showering, drove down to headqaurters.

JAG Headquarters

"Rough night flyboy?" asked Mac, Harm's partner. She was leaning on the doorway, silently observing Harm;s handsome profile.

"Thanks for the concern colonel, and yes, I did have a hard night."

"There's a message for you by the computer. Turns out a lieutenant named Diane Schnoke has just finished her service."

"Thanks, Mac." And with that, Mac turned around and headed towards her own office.

Harm's apartment

Washinton, D.C.

"I can't believe you didn't call me as soon as you got to port! Gee, Diane, I've missed you so much." Harm was sitting next to his long time friend, who had helped him through the academy.

"Harm, I needed some time to think things through. I want to tell you something. Something that I wanted to tell you a long time ago. But, back then the rules were different. Not only was I not ready to say anything, but there were punishments for any wrong actions. But now I realize that I can't wait anymore. Harm, I love you. I've always loved you. Do you think that there may be a chance, even if it's small enough to fit in my palm, that we might have a relationship based on more than a friendship?"

Harm could not answer. He had loved Diane from the very first moment he had lain eyes upon her. Even now, as he gazed at her silky soft hair, and the coffee brown eyes that could melt the entire north pole with their warmth. She was his match. The thought of having her as more than a friend was becoming a reality. Surley there were no reasons that he would not commit his heart to the one he loved. But, of course, there was one very important reason for his hesitation. Mac. Mac was his partner, and she looked exactly like Diane, so there were no differences based on appearnace. Personality wise though, the two were like night and day. Mac was bold, confidant, and a Marine. Diane was sweet, generous, and a sailor. In more ways than one, he loved them both.

"Diane, it's great that you're home. I'm sorry, I do care about you, but I need time to consider my options. I do love you. Can you give me some time to get over the shock?"

"Sure Harm," said Diane as she got up from his couch and headed towards the door. "Night."

After Diane had left, ther was a knock on the door.

"Hello? Any one in there?"

"Coming" Harm yelled. He had been dozing off, seriously contemplating about his choices. Harm opened the door to find either Diane or Mac. He couldn't tell because Diane had been in casual clothes, and the woman before him also wore causla clothes.
