Fascination
Author's Note: This is definitely the weirdest ship I have ever wrote for, but I do like a challenge. And yes I know that they're related far off somehow but oh well. This is all in third person except for the ending which will in Percy's point of view and be in italics.
It's written for Wotcher-Tonks' Never Before Seen Pairing Challenge. You should check out some of the other claims if you want some interesting reads.
Disclaimer: I only own my own weird want to write this.
"Charlie who's that?" eleven year old Percy had just seen Tonks for the first time. Her hair was her normal bubble gum pink and cut short.
"Don't call me Nymphadora!" he heard he say to who seemed to be her mother and her hair changed to a vibrant red which alarmed Percy.
They were at Platform 9 and ¾ and about to board the train. "That's Tonks, she's in my year."
"What's up with her hair?" he was mesmerized by the way it changed color within moments.
Charlie remembered his reaction was nearly the same as Percy's when he first met her. "She's a metamorphmagus, she can change her looks at will."
For the rest of his first year Percy constantly found himself staring at her and looking for her in the hallways. He told himself that it was just fascination even if he knew there was more to it than that. Bill and Charlie both took noticed to it as well as his friends.
Bill and Charlie decided at the end of the summer before school started they need to have a talk with their little brother.
"Perce, come here for a second." Charlie called out to Percy from upstairs where he was with Bill trying to figure out what to say to him.
Percy walked into Charlie's bedroom.
"Charlie and I need to talk to you Perce." Bill said in a voice her only used when he talked to him as his big brother rather than his friend.
"About what?" Percy said with a hint of confusion in his voice.
"It's about Tonks. And we think you know what we're getting at." Charlie answered him before Bill could.
"Oh," Percy looked down at his feet. "That."
"Perce, we know you're fascinated with her and if you don't you really have a staring problem."
Bill still wasn't sure what to say, "I know you're only twelve years old but you've really got to stop staring at the girl. You're going to give her the creeps."
He never did get over his "fascination" with Tonks. When he got in the fight with his parent's about being in with Dumbledore and how he wouldn't join the order that was why, because she was there.
His mother started naming off people in the order, once she finished her name he started yelling; only Bill noticed it was after her name. He never did say anything to Percy knowing it would make him worse.
Percy couldn't help himself, he kept thinking of her. How her hair would change with her moods and how she always changed her looks when she was mad with teachers. He had only talked to her a handful of times but when he did his heart nearly stopped.
"She had a husband, she had a child." I mentally hit myself over the head. Seeing her just lying there next to Fred and Remus, it killed me. Her hair hadn't changed to her natural light brown, which I had only seen once; it was still its vivid bubblegum pink.
Seeing her after so long, knowing she would have been happy made me happy. Even if I wasn't the one she was happy with. I could see Bill walking towards me; he put his hand on my shoulder for the first time since I was that little skinny twelve year old boy. "I always knew it wasn't just fascination Perce, I knew it was love."
