Ethan Point of View
It had been so hard, so hard to keep my fiancée a secret. She'd been so adamant in the past few months, until she came to take a attending job of Edenbrook. And, worse, Charity was so far away, but today I get to see her, today I finally see her beautiful eyes and get to run my hair through her blonde waves. Only thing, she wasn't moving in with me, until she'd spent time with her parents.
BEEP BEEP
Groaning, I open my eyes and see my alarm clock has go one and I slam my hand down on it. I look around and smile, I'd had all the paint done and everything made perfect for when Charity had returned, I sit up and rest again the headboard of the bed and I take a deep breath and rub my eyes, I stumble in my bathroom and shower to wake myself up and freshen up before throwing on a shirt and a pair of trousers and tie and out aftershave on, since I'll be seeing my future wife today. I grin to myself, and I have 40 minutes to spare before I promised I'd meet her at the hospital. After a small coffee and some time waking myself up some more, I get to the hospital and see her purple sports car parked up and I walk to the hospital entrance.
"Ethan" I hear and I turn around to see her. Her long blonde hair curly but scraped into a ponytail, her make-up light. Her beautiful green eyes looking directly at me. She had a pair of black trousers on, a flowery blue blouse, a pair of heels, she looked radiant. I walk over to her, grab both her hands, pulling her even closer to me and I press my lips to her and she immediately kisses back, passionately, and cups my cheek, her warm hands feel perfect against my own, she grins against my lips and pulls away and I put on a serious face, but have to grin, could you blame a man?
"Dr Kendall" I say and she grins.
"Dr Ramsey" she smiles, trying to look serious but her beautiful, infectious smile comes out and I can't help but kiss her again, this time more passionately.
"I've missed you, so, damn, much" I whisper and she smiles.
"I've missed you too, Ethan" she whispers and I pull away and hold her hand and lead her into the hospital.
"I'll introduce you to everyone once I've got you a coffee and something to eat" I tell her and she nods and I walk us to the canteen and she looks at the menu.
"I'll have my usual, bacon with maple syrup coated pancakes" she smirks and I chuckle. Charity may be a grown woman, but she loves her pancakes, she always has done.
"Coffee wise?" I ask her.
"A Cappuccino, a strong one too" she shrugs and I nod and I order myself some food, and her coffee and pancakes as she takes a seat at a free table and I feel her eyes burning in my back.
"Here you step" one of the canteen says and I take the tray of food and I take it over to where my fiancée sits. I put the tray down and she reaches in for her coffee and takes a sip of it and smiles.
"Oh, now that is a good coffee" she grins, and I smile back, the woman loves her coffee.
"Sorry our FaceTime was cut short last night you know how rubbish I am with technology" I chuckle.
"Don't worry, I think I'll come home tomorrow though or tonight, Mum is already so overbearing and Dads no better" she sighs.
"Why? Everything ok" I enquire.
"You know my parents. Fuss over the smallest thing, they're acting like I've not been home in years, I mean come on, it's been 4 months" she sighs.
"Well, you can't blame them. You're their daughter, they love you a lot" I state softly and she pops a bit of bacon in her mouth and shrugs.
"I know that, it's just, they just want to treat me like a child still….. well my mum does and I am not a child, I'm a Doctor, I'm a attending and I've made a life for me. I mean, we're getting married in 4 months" she says, looking incredibly frustrated. I hate it when she is frustrated as I want to help her.
"Your dad?" I ask and she sighs and looks at me, pain on her face.
"He's so fed up of my mum being so controlling, I mean I know they've had problems recently and he can be overprotective and that….. but I don't know Ethan…. There's more to it that meets the eye" She sighs and I take her hand and bring it up and gently kiss it.
"I'm sure they will work it out and if it didn't work out, they still love you, and they won't do anything to make your life hard" I whisper and she shrugs.
"I know my dad won't" she says and she shakes her head. If only I could help her. She's been through a lot and she loves her parents, and I love how close she is with her parents but there's always been a strain on their relationship with her since she stood up to them and told them she wanted to pursue paediatric medicine. Her mother wanted her to go for oncology, which I knew she'd crack at. She may be a fantastic doctor and hard working but she would struggle with oncology. And her dad, thought she'd do something like trauma, which I guess in a way she does as she's a childrens doctor, but I guess I just think her parents should be happy for her. She's successful young woman, a successful doctor.
"Maybe you just need to tell your mum how you feel, Chairy" I say and Charity looks at me and eats, thoughtfully looking at me.
"I could talk to my dad, when I'm ready. But I don't think my mum will listen to me" she sighs.
"I'm sorry about that" I say and she shakes her head.
"It's ok, I just want to be where I belong, which is wherever you are" She smiles and I lean forward and press my lips to hers and she kisses back, sweetly. She always has been a sweet one, almost as if she is sugar. She gives me my daily dose of sweetness even if I try and fight it. I really hate to admit it, but she is my one weak spot.
"I've missed you so much! How was the fellowship as a whole?" I ask and a massive grin breaks out on her beautiful face.
"It was amazing, I was offered a permanent job with them but then Harper Emery offered me this job, and there's a special reason I wanted the job here" she smirks and I chuckle and she finishes eating and slumps back in the chair and groans.
"You look like you enjoy that" I observe and she grins.
"It was what I needed! Thank you" she beams and kisses me and she finishes her coffee and I just watch her. She is just beautiful and she is a angel! I love her so much!
"That's ok, right, I better show you to your office, and introduce you to the interns" I murmur and I take her bag and she chuckles and grins.
"So you really want to hold my bag for me" she smirks and stands up.
"On second thought….. it's probably safer for you to carry it, I have a reputation to maintain, Mrs Ramsey to be" I whisper the last part to her and she grins and kisses me, and laughs.
"I love you Mr Ramsey" she chuckles.
"Doctor" I correct and lead her through the hospital.
"Sorry, Doctor Ramsey" she smirks and I shake my head but grin, this woman brings me so much joy, it's unreal.
"That is better Doctor Kendall" I nod, and I show her the office next to mine which will be hers.
"Is there a secret door to yours" she asks and flutters her eyebrows.
"Only the front door" I shrug and she pouts.
"What if people catch us?" She pouts.
"What do you mean?" I raise my eyebrow.
"You know, us, being us" she says.
"We'll have to remain professional at work" I nod.
"I know" she says and I press my lips to hers.
"Come on, let me introduce you to the interns, we can find Harper later" I say and pass her a white coat which I hold out for her to step into to which she does and I smile as she adjusts it and she goes into her bag and grabs a blue penlight, a pen and her stethoscope and she puts her stethoscope around her neck, and her two pens in her coat pockets and smiles. She looked like a radiantly, beautiful, professional doctor. She was, sorry she is, gorgeous.
"Let's do this" she beams.
