Waiting

A/N: Marshall left Gumball for Fionna.

He's been waiting for a while now, standing on the balcony every night. Some of the citizens pass by and just give him a sad look and continued on. He envied them; they were naïve and lived without a care in the world. They lived in joyous days and happiness.

He had felt happiness at one point, but now it seemed to mock him whenever he saw them.

They looked so much happier, happier than Gumball and he had ever been.

They were more affectionate in public than he and Gumball had been.

He let her lead him, but if Gumball was so much as to protest, he was dominated immediately.

They were perfect for each other, adventurous, scared of nothing and ready to do anything.

The last few months they were together, Gumball noticed he began coming to the balcony less to visit. They used to go on dates all the time until Gumball became desperate just to go on one every month. The kisses he shared with him became less loving. The hugs seemed to become a simple press against their bodies.

Gumball planned to change that on one of their dates, until the man had completely shattered Gumball's heart by saying he had fallen out of love with him and fallen in love with her.

That's how he thought of the idea of waiting. Every night he would stand on the balcony, waiting for him to return and say he still loved him and beg him to take him back.

Until then, he would stand with his hands in his pockets, rubbing the small velvet box in his right one and just stare into the night sky.
