Chapter 1 – Trouble in Paradise

~ PM, Review, Follow and Favorite… I haven't written anything for a while so excuse the rust. This FMA fic is from the original but it might have some brotherhood characters too. ~

The story begins with Ed and Al in Germany preparing to leave the day before the portal opens, but to his surprise…Al isn't on the same page.

"It's almost time to go home Al… Are you ready? " Al was too busy staring aimlessly at the window to answer his brother's question. It was snowing heavily in Germany at the moment and he wondered if it was snowing this heavy back home…Home…He always wondered what that meant. He pondered this for a while and finally decided to answer his brother who was still patiently awaiting his answer.

"Ed…I-I've been meaning to talk to you about something."

The eldest Elric gave his brother a puzzled look, expecting him to share his enthusiasm but instead here he is looking at the back of his brother's head as he continues to stare outside the window.

"Brother… What does home mean?" Ed pauses for a moment to wrap his brain around the question, he begins to smirk and laugh maniacally. Al frowns a little at this and proceeds to ask another question.

"Why can't we call this place home?"…Ed sat for a quick second, took a sip of his drink and slowly walked to the window and stood beside him, he swished the spit around in his mouth a little and answered his question.

"Home, huh…It's where…It's were you fall in love, Al."

"What a selfish thing to say, you're only talking about yourself. What about Noah! You know she likes you."

Ed nods his head up and down and continues to listen and say nothing.

"You never thought to ask if I wanted to stay!"

Ed grabs his bag and walks toward the door and soon as he grabs the knob and stops and takes a deep breath.

"I didn't have to…You should hurry up and tell Noah that you love her Al." As Ed turns the doorknob the door burst open and hits Ed knocking him down. He sighs as he looks up at the figure angrily staring down at him.

"Uhhh, speak of the devil-(Cut off by Al who finishes the saying)"

"…And he shall appear." Ed notices that his brother face is now turning a bright shade of crimson red. No one speaks for a while; eventually Noah opens her mouth to speak.

"WHY WON'T YOU STAY ED ?!" Ed stands up to meet Noah face to face.

"Noah, I told you the day we met that I was going to leave as soon as I get the chance."

"Noah…This isn't my home and I told you this. I have to leave." Noah is shaking a little now.

"But I love you Ed! Just stay here and we can be a family, the family you never had, the family your father took from you!" Ed looks at Noah.

"That's the reason why I have to leave Noah, because you're wrong." Noah looks at him obviously confused."

Al understands what's about to happen. He stands up dusting his pants off and proceeds to throw on his black/red copy of his brother's jacket. They both see this as a signal to leave. Ed leaves first politely moving Noah out of the way.

Al gets ready to do the same, but right when he puts his hands on her shoulders he kisses her…Vigorously…Like a man who would never see his true love again.

Ed and Al are walking down the snowy streets of Germany in complete silence until they reach the portal, and suddenly they hear a voice somewhere in the vicinity…It's Noah.

"J-Just don't say this is goodbye."

Ed and Al nod and continue to walk through the portal and the last thing they see is a single tear fall on her face. The guilt shook them, but it was worth it…They was finally home.
