The young girl closed her eyes as tears closed her eyes. A single tear slid down her face and she began to quietly sob.
"Red?" Sabrina sat down next to the girl. Red looked up at her and then back down to her hands. "You aren't alone in any of this." Sabrina assured her.
"You don't get what it feels like though. T-to see your own family g-gone right before y-your eyes." Red explained between sobs.
"No, I don't know exactly what that feels like but when my parents disappeared I thought they had abandoned me and Daphne. I thought they left us to fend for ourselves, that feeling of betrayal I felt was terrible. Then me and Daphne were put into a foster home and we had no one to trust. I couldn't- well I wouldn't let myself trust anyone. I can relate to you Red." Sabrina grabbed Red's hand and smiled at her.
"You aren't just being sympathetic are you?" She asked the older girl quietly. Sabrina shook her head and said "Your like a little sister to me, Red." Red smiled.
"I did terrible things to you and your family though. How can you forgive me so easily when I played a huge part in tearing your family apart." Red didn't get how this whole family that she hurt so bad could forgive her so easily.
"The same way your forgave Mr. Canis. It wasn't either of your faults that you did what you did. Plus, without you Me and Daphne probably wouldn't have come to Ferryport Landing and met some of the most amazing people we did. Like Granny Relda, Mrs. White, Hamstead, and even Puck." Sabrina laughed. Red giggled "Especially Puck," She teased.
"I used to feel sorry for you, but now I really understand you. I feel like I know how you felt when all of that happened. Terrible things happen to the most amazing people. Like my parents where taken, Briar was killed, Uncle Jake was basically broken for a while after what happened to Briar, Canis was taken over by the wolf, and your situation was no different. No one sees you any different than how we see anyone else Red," She told her "We all love you for who you are."
Red looked down "But you have a family now," She said quietly. "And so do you." Red looked at the blonde girl and smiled.
"I do?" Red asked in a whisper.
"Of course you do."
"Who?"
"The old woman with the Sunflower hats that makes the weirdest food, The old man with the gray hair that only us can get to smile, the parents who are very different but work with each other so well, the baby boy with bright orange hair that likes you more than anyone, the uncle with the funniest attitude and most magic than anyone, the blonde fairy boy who annoys the heck out of everyone, the girl who can't help but smile about everything, and last but not least the stubborn girl who once couldn't wait to leave Ferryport Landing but is now begging to stay."
For the first time since her life had taken a turn for the worst, Red felt loved. She felt happy, she felt excited, she felt emotions she never thought she would ever feel again. She had finally found where she belonged and along the way she found herself a family who loved and cared for her. This was her happily ever after.
