DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with "The Legend of Korra".

Author's Note: If this had been more light hearted like originally planned, I would have put it in with my "Legend of Comedy" drabbles, but, since it's on the darker side of things, it's here by itself.

Meelo wandered around the island, going farther than his mom wanted him to. He chased butterflies and poked random bugs with a stick. He ran away from black bugs bigger than his fists. Meelo chased the flying lemurs and chewed on Oogi's ears. The flying bison didn't like being chewed on, but he allowed it since he didn't want to hurt the little pest.

When Meelo wasn't roaming the island, he laid down on one of the few tree's branches and napped. He only woke up when a bug landed on his nose, a flying lemur started playing with his ears, or his mother found him and yelled at him to get down and return to the house. He would always reluctantly follow his mom after she yelled at him, but she would always give him some of Ikki's candy later.

At night, he annoyed his father with the oddest of questions and pulled on his ears. His dad would sigh and only scold him if it got too unbearable. If Meelo was scolded, he would go find his sisters and insult them with the most childish of names. Ikki would always argue with him while Jinora did her best to break up their fights. On the off chance he couldn't find his sisters, he would follow Korra and hang onto her leg as she walked. Korra didn't mind it all that much since he was only five and didn't weigh too much. When they got to the training area, she would entertain him with her bending for awhile or he'd just watch her practice airbending.

One night when he followed Korra, Meelo was oddly silently and that concerned her since he was generally energetic no matter what time it was. Naturally, she asked what was wrong and he looked at her with big frightened eyes.

"Is he going to hurt us?"

Author's Note: Even though Meelo doesn't have a lot of screen time, I have this odd feeling that he's more aware of things than people think. I know that most kids aren't overly aware of anything, but, if I remember correctly, he's overheard at least one conversation about Amon and I'm willing to bet that he's overheard a few more, especially after the events of episode 6.
