Why?
A/N This is a really stupid idea for a story but I'm having major writer's block and it was the only thing that would come to me so sorry if you think it's a waste of time. But of course everyone loves a review so please do so!
"Why don't you like me?" James asked sitting down across from Lily in the Heads Common Room.
"I do like you just not like that. I'm sorry. Why?" she replied with hesitation.
"Why don't you like me 'like that'?"
"Well, because you used to irritate me to no end, asked me out constantly, effectively humiliating in front of almost the whole school. Why are you asking me this?" she asked feeling slightly suspicious.
"Because i still really like you and i only did those stupid things to get your attention. Why can't you just give me a chance? Everyone but you can see that i've changed," said James.
"I know you've changed, i see it on an almost daily basis, but i'm not sure I'm ready to trust you properly yet."
James got up and walked away, up to his dorm room looking quite dejected. Meanwhile Lily was sitting on the couch mentally berating herself. WHY DO I DO THIS TO HIM?
A month later James found Lily outside underneath her favorite tree which happened to be beside the quidditch pitch, where he had been practising. Lily would never admit it, but she had been surupticiously watching the practice while pretending to read her book.
"Why don't you trust me?" were the first words out of his mouth when he came to a hault and stood beside her.
"I do trust you, i just don't know if i trust you enough yet, I'm sorry," she said sincerely.
James just shook his head and walked away, silently, though Lily didn't know it, resolving that if she didn't trust him the next time he asked he would give up on her completely.
Watching him walk away Lily did the same again, mentally berating herself, WHY CAN'T I TELL HIM HOW I FEEL?
Two months after that, in mid December amidst the snow, down beside the lake James asked her the question for the last time.
"Lily," he said softly, watching snow settle in her red hair with something close to fascination.
She looked back up at him through her eyelashes, protecting her eyes from the swirling snow.
"Why don't you like or trust me?"
Feeling completely helpless against the emotions swirling in her like the snow, Lily didn't say anything but just stared at James for a few seconds. James sighed and turned away to walk back to the castle but Lily caught his arm and held him where he was. "Wait," she said softly, speaking for the first time.
James turned and looked at her, doing exactly what she wanted. He felt sure she would explain herself and why she was dragging this out longer than was neccessary. The one thing he felt positive she wouldn't do was the one thing she did, she kissed him.
When he turned back to look at her with his hazel eyes burning with passion, lust, dejection and, above all, confusion she lost control of herself and let go of her hesitation.
She quickly leaned in and pressed her lips to his, hoping he wouldn't pull away because this was the first time she had ever thrown caution to the winds regarding her real feelings towards James. She wasn't disappointed, mere seconds after she started the kiss she felt his tongue sweep across her bottom lip while his arms wrapped around her waist. In enormous relief she let him open her mouth and met his tongue with hers.
To her intense surprise it was James who pulled away first, blushing furiously she gazed up at him, feeling very exposed in all her emotions that she had protected so furiously before today.
"Why?" was all he said.
Lily smiled softly and visibly relaxed. "Because i like you," she said simply before claiming his lips with hers once again.
Thank you for reading, if you thought it was a waste of time then I'm sorry, if you didn't or if you think you can help me improve please review.
