Contrary to Public Opinion
It's not the temptation of crystal spires
Reaching high into the sky, so far away,
That makes me follow his lead.
Nor is it the blue and silver encircling my neck
Or the star etched deep into my skin
That shows my worth to him.
And though the marks left on my body
Ache oh so deliciously even hours later
That's not what ties me to him.
It is his every touch of eyes and hands
saying loud and clearly all the time
That I am cherished. Loved. And owned.
Finally.
