Piper

Starting a new school, Piper should have been nervous, but she'd done it so many times, it had become a routine. It was a little different than the previous years because this was entirely her decision. Not Jane's, not her father's, hers. She had chosen this school in particular, because Jason was attending as well. Actually, most of her friends were going. They weren't in all of her classes though, and when Jason and Piper were comparing schedules, they found that they only had a couple in common.

Her first classes were with Jason, and after lunch she had History 11 with Frank. She didn't know anyone in her last class, Math 11, and as she walked into the room she felt a sort of emptiness inside of her. Piper grabbed a seat near the back just as the room started filling up. She shivered as a cold breeze went by her. A boy around her age sat down at the desk beside hers. She could feel the cold radiating off of him as if he had just come out of a freezer. He had an acne-covered face and wore dress pants and a shirt with three buttons undone at the top. He turned to look at her and gave her a cold smile. She felt a tug at her sub-conscience; had she seen him before? The campus was very large and there were at least 200 students attending. She was sure that he wasn't in any of her other classes. The teacher called the class to order and started rambling about something, but Piper couldn't get her mind off of the cold boy sitting next to her.

About half an hour into the class, the teacher called on the strange boy beside her. He glanced over at her and started speaking in an almost fake French accent. When he had answered the question he smiled at her again. She shivered, hoping he hadn't noticed. When the class finally ended, she grabbed her bag and made her way out of the room. The hall was busy, and she couldn't figure out where she had to go to get out of there and find Jason. A cold hand touched her shoulder and she jumped slightly, startled.

"Hey Jason, why are your hands so cold?" she said as she turned around. But facing her was definitely not Jason. It was the boy from her class, with the undone buttons and the cold aura.

"Hello, pretty girl," he said in his horrible French accent. She mumbled a 'hi' and shivered, silently cursing her self for doing so in front of him. He smiled at her.

"I'm Piper," she managed to say. He nodded and then said, "I know." Piper shivered again and started to ask who he thought he was, but he spoke first.

"Hello, Piper McLean, we meet again. Do you not remember me? I am Zethes."

I love to write, and am open to suggestions to help me improve my writing! Thanks for reading my story, I hope to publish more short stories, (probably in the PJO, HOO, Lorien Legacies fields), so watch out for that!

Thanks again, you guys!
