Need

AN: This one shot is based on the following lyrics:

"Another shot of whiskey, can't stop looking at the door.
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before.
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind?
For me it happens all the time.

It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now.
Said I wouldn't call but I've lost all control and I need you now.
And I don't know how I can do without.
I just need you now." (Lyrics from Lady Antebellum's Need You Now)

He took another swig of Whiskey hoping that the alcohol would take away his need for her. She had left a bottomless pit inside of his heart that he could never fill with anybody but her.

At times like this when the need for her became unbearable he wondered if she ever thought about him. He knew that she hated him...Why wouldn't she after all the pain that he caused her? But he still loved her and knowing that he could never have the one thing he needed most was the worst punishment that he could have ever received. It was their anniversary and all he had was the haunting ghosts of the worst and best night of his life. Even now he could still hear her, "Please...don't leave...I need you...will you stay the night with me?"

Leaving her with all that need was his biggest regret and he would do anything to undo that night, but he couldn't and he had lost her.

XOXOXO

She stared at the clock...it was a quarter after one on the anniversary of the night that they first made night had changed both of their lives forever and it had filled her with a need that scared her. He had hurt her more than anybody else had ever hurt her. She wanted to hate him because she was afraid that he would hurt her again, but she couldn't. She still loved him even after all these years and the need for him to fill her soul up with his wasn't something that she would ever get over.

She picked up the phone and dialed his number. "I need you," she whispered into the phone and then she hung up. She had already said too much. What if he didn't 't come or worse what if he left her like he had left her that night? Could she survive losing him twice in one lifetime?

XOXOXO

He hung up the phone. She couldn't have called him? His mind must be playing games on him, but he couldn't get her voice out of his head. She needed him and he couldn't let her down...not again.

He drove to her place and knocked on the door as he took a deep breath.

"Todd?" She asked as she opened the doors.

He took one look at her and he knew that she had been crying. "What's wrong Marty?" Why did you call me?" Todd asked.

"I need you...will you please hold me tonight?" Marty asked.

Todd took a deep breath as he shut her door. Was it possible that she needed him just as badly as he needed her?

"I'll hold you for as long as you'll let me," Todd whispered.

He followed her into her bedroom where he stripped down to his shirt and boxer shorts. They climbed into bed and he stroked her hair as she laid her head against his chest.

"Happy Anniversary Todd," Marty stated as she closed her eyes.

"Happy Anniversary," Todd responded as he wrapped his arms around her tighter and closed his eyes as well.
