Calming waves lapped over silky sand, creating a environment where Evan could clear his mind. Since he and Jonathan had somehow arrived at Beach City, there has only been awkwardness between the two. Never in the several years he has known his masked friend has he been able to truly say about how he felt. Garnet has explained how feelings shouldn't hold a person back from telling the person you like, but Evan couldn't face the possibility of ruining the close friendship between the two and hid his thoughts deep in his conscious. Unsurprisingly, he had gone to the same spot on the hidden beach everyday to try to figure out his own desires. Now he was staring down at his dark red wristwatch. It was later than he expected to be, yet he felt he could stay a little longer before anyone anyone would want him back at the nearby temple.
Suddenly, Evan felt a warm hand on the cuff of his scarlet jacket slowly brush down past the two diamond white stripes to wrap itself around his freezing fingers. Jonathan. After the avoidance, he shivered slightly in reaction before looking up at his close friend in slight shock. He had his mask off for the first and only time in the numerous years the two had known one another, his peach skin contrasting against the ruby shades of his blush.
"J-Jonathan! What're doing here?"
"I know I've been avoiding you...and I came to say sorry. You're not to blame for our...marooning here. I never should have put all this on you..." With that, Jonathan raised a hand to help his secret crush to his feet despite the obvious size difference. Slowly, they headed back up to the temple.
Halfway there, Jonathan stopped in his tracks, pulling Evan back. Just as he was about to hit the ground, he caught him into a ballroom dancing style dip. He couldn't help but laugh at his clumsiness towards his best friend. But before he could apologise, Evan started to innocently chuckle at the pure randomness between them to not make the situation any more awkward than it already was. As they laughed, their heads slowly inched closer together to the point where their hair was being pressed against one another. Suddenly, all went black...
