A/N: AU set after S6. Short one-shot.
Nadia sniffed as she fished her things out of her locker. She had been hanging on by a thread for the past few hours, and now that she could finally go home, she was starting to fall apart. Trying to ignore the way her hands were shaking, she zipped up her purse and shut the locker door.
"Hey."
She jumped slightly, and turned to see Milo standing there. His face was long and drawn, though Nadia was sure that she didn't look any better. So much had happened in the past twenty-four hours, and she suddenly found herself wondering where the two of them stood.
"Hey," she replied, giving him a tired smile.
Milo opened his mouth as though he were going to say something else, but nothing came out. His eyes drifted down to the ground, and Nadia felt sympathy welling up inside of her. He looked so lost and alone; she decided that their conversation could wait until later. Right now, talking was the last thing that they needed.
Walking over, she gently slipped her hand into his. Milo stared at their entwined fingers, slowly rubbing his thumb over her skin. She smiled again and then turned, leading him out of the room and out of the building.
The drive was silent. Milo had frowned slightly when she led him to her car, but he hadn't made any objection. Both of them were far too tired to think very hard about what they were doing, or what was going to happen in the coming days. So he climbed into the passenger's seat and she drove them to her apartment.
They didn't' speak until they were inside again. Nadia locked the door behind them and turned to face him.
"Do you want something to eat?"
Milo shook his head. "Later. Right now…I just wanna sleep."
She nodded in understanding. It had been hours since she had last eaten, but her stomach hadn't seemed to realize that yet. It was something else that they could deal with later.
With more nerves than she'd had earlier, she once again took his hand. This time she led him back into her bedroom, thankful that she had cleaned the day before. She left Milo by the bed as she moved to the window, lowering the shade and blocking out the early morning light. Then she slipped off her shoes and climbed onto the bed, looking up at Milo.
"Are you sure?" he asked quietly.
Her eyes met his. "Yes."
He took her at her word. Kicking off his sneakers, he lowered himself down onto the mattress, some of the tension easing out of him. Nadia gave him an encouraging smile and moved closer, questioning him with her eyes.
This time he didn't hesitate. Reaching over, he pulled her into his arms, tucking her body in closely with his. And as the sun rose over Los Angeles they fell asleep, letting tomorrow worry about itself.
