Sam would never give up on his brother. They had both been through so much, seen so much evil in the world that many would never know even existed. No matter what Dean asked for, Sam would never stop looking for a way out for his best friend.
"Sam, please just stop looking for a way out," Dean begged.
"Never." Sam simply replied eyes not leaving the computer screen.
"You know what Sam, you are such a hypocrite. You go on about how much you miss me being your brother, well what about you? I miss the Sam I could hang out with, the Sam that I could mess around with, the Sam that would come to bed at night, eat at normal times and actually take care of himself. No matter what you do Sam, I'm gone in a few months, but while I'm here I'm not letting you run yourself into the ground."
"Dean..?" Sam questioned looking over at where Dean was sitting on the bed. This time Sam finally looked at his brother and saw what was left of Dean, his shoulders were hunched and tense; his face was pale and his eyes empty. "I'm sorry Dean, but I can't just let you go like you want me to."
"Why Sam?" Dean's voice was broken.
"Because Dean, I didn't deserve what you did for me, so now I am going to get you out of this deal. Even if it is the last thing I do, 'cause if you go then I go too." Sam announced so sure of himself.
"Sam I did this for you, now you have a second chance, you're smart, and you will go back to college and get that girl and the kids. Damn it Sammy, you will have everything."
Sam closed the laptop shut and moved over to where his brother was seated. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you this Dean, but I don't want any of that now. All I want is for you to be is happy, and alive. I don't want college or kids. I want you." He said drawing his brother into his arms.
"You deserve so much more than me Sam." It was just a whisper, but Sam heard it as loud as a gun shot, and it tore at his heart just as painfully as a bullet would.
"No Dean, I don't deserve you, I left you for college once and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. We are in this together now, and I'm not leaving you. Ever." Sam placed his lips on his brother's hair and held onto him tight, he could feel his older brother's body shaking and knew that neither one of them would be able to survive without the other.
Sam moved them to lean against the headboard of the double bed and continued to hold his brother in his arms. He could feel his t-shirt becoming more wet but he didn't mention it. They both knew Dean was scared of what was to become of him, that's why Sam couldn't let Dean's soul be taken. Especially not for him.
"Rest now Dean, I'm here, let me protect you for once." Sam whispered into Dean's hair.
"Do you pray for me Sam?" Dean asked, his body losing the fight against sleep.
Sam was surprised by the question but answered immediately none the less. "Every night Dean. I pray for you every night. I thank who ever is listening to me for the wonderful brother I was given, for the best friend I could ever have, and the most caring lover I have ever known. I pray that someone will watch over us, because I know that we can't live apart Dean. We never should have to." Sam said so sure of himself.
"I pray for you too Sammy." Dean said, his body relaxing with sleep.
-End.
