"I want to bathe with you in the sea" – Savage Garden
"Come on baby!" Kris shouted running toward the waves, his husband's hand in his, pulling him, their fingers intertwined.
Both of their bran new wedding bands gleamed magnificently in the bright Hawaiian sunlight.
"Not so fast!" Adam giggled.
Minutes later they were both waist up in the gorgeous clear water. They had reserved their own part of the beach and there wasn't another person for miles. They were finally all alone.
"Catch me!" Kris shouted as he jumped into Adam's arms, wrapping his legs around his back. Kris' guitar callused hands rest behind his husbands freckled neck where the small strands of wet black hair stuck there.
Adam held Kris in his arms, smiling brightly.
Almost, as if rehearsed, they both leaned in, claiming each other's lips. The kiss was slow and romantic, with tiny breaks to lean back and show their loving smiles and the heartbreaking eye contact that hit them like a bolt of lightning every time they looked at each other.
The sun was setting and it cast a glow upon both of their faces. Blue eyes met brown ones. A tear formed in both sets of gorgeous eyes.
Adam placed a wet freckled hand on Kris' cheek and gently caressed his face with his thumb.
"I am so lucky," Adam whispered.
Kris squinted his eyes and a tear rolled down to touch Adam's thumb.
"I'm sorry," Kris sighed as he looked down, breaking eye contact.
Adam pushed Kris' chin up to look at him again, a trace of concern on his face, "For what baby?"
"For taking so long, we wasted so much time, you…"
"Hey," Adam whispered interrupting him, "I didn't waste anything."
"But all I put you through, all the heartache we both had to go through before we could have this, I'm so sorry, it shouldn't have been that way," Kris poured his heart out.
"Shhh," Adam soothed him, pulling his husband to his chest, still holding him up while the water lightly rocked the two of them.
"I love you, I'm so sorry if I hurt you or if I did anything to upset you, all of that, I'm so so sorry," Kris cried into Adam chest, small sobs shaking his body as Adam held his close, petting his hair.
"Don't cry baby, don't cry," Adam rocked his husband while the waves helped, "I have you now, that is all in the past."
Kris leaned back, blue eyes met brown eyes again, he reached up to touch his husbands clean face, clean of any trace of makeup, "I never want to go another day without seeing you again."
At this Adam's heart broke, a tear ran slowly down his cheek, "Never again baby, never again," he said as he gathered his husband back up into his arms.
Kris' mouth hovered mere centimeters from a freckled ear, "You're the love of my life Adam," he whispered.
Adam held him tighter as more tears fell down his face.
"And you're mine," he replied, his voice shaky with emotion.
They held each other for so long that they lost track of time, as the sun was setting right behind the palm trees Kris leaned back. Blue eyes met brown eyes again.
They shared a kiss as the sun disappeared.
They had gone through so much, so much heartache, so many months separated from each other. But it was all worth it now. They wore matching wedding bands and their hearts were connected, more strongly, if possible, than they had always been. They would never again have to spend a second more crying over a partnership that they never thought would come true. There would be no more laying in bed alone, crying themselves to sleep. They had each other, they would always have each other. They would no longer have to hide and lie, to themselves and to others. They would never have to let go, wondering when the next time they will see each other again would be. Never again would they be apart, never again.
