DISCLAIMER: I do not own Law & Order: SVU, nor do I own the characters I mention that are on the show. If I did, there would be lots of flying monkeys, Cassidy would still be on the SVU, and there would be more FEMALE detectives on the show.

Alex Cabot couldn't look back. She had to do this now. "Kevin, I love you…" she began. She silently cursed as her doorbell rang. "I have to get that," she said, shooting her soon-to-be-fiancé an apologetic smile.

"I'll be waiting right here, Katie," he said. Alex got up and walked to the front door. She'd been Katie Delhomme for exactly one year, and she'd managed to find the perfect man. Unfortunately, she couldn't tell him the truth: that she was really an Assistant District Attorney in the Witness Protection Program. But that wasn't going to stop her from being happy.

"Can I hel… Liv?" Alex's jaw dropped to see Olivia Benson standing on her front porch. "What the hell are you doing here?" Olivia handed her a newspaper clipping.

"I guess they don't think it's big news, out here in the boonies," Olivia replied. She smiled as she watched Alex read the paper.

"Is this what I think it is?"

"He's dead. You're safe now," Olivia replied. "I'm supposed to find out if you want back… Branch is prepared to let you come back to the unit."

"Katie, is something wrong?" Kevin asked, walking into the entry hall. Olivia was surprised to see the tall black man in Alex's apartment.

"No, Kevin… everything's fine. I'd like you to meet a friend of mine. This is Olivia. Olivia, this is Kevin." The two smiled and shook hands. "Liv, why don't you come in… The three of us have a lot to talk about."

"Alex, I still love you. I will follow you to New York, if that's what it takes," Kevin said. Olivia was in the bathroom, leaving Alex alone with Kevin. The two had spent hours explaining the situation to him, and then a few more hours telling him everything about Alex's real life.

"But I lied to you," she whispered. This was certainly not a conversation she wanted Olivia to hear.

"You didn't have a choice. I can't blame you for that. You only did what you had to do, to protect yourself and your family. I still want to marry you," he replied. She smiled and snuggled a bit closer to him on the couch. "Just don't get mad at me if I happen to accidentally call you Katie once in a while."

"I love you," Alex whispered, slipping on the small diamond engagement ring. The two kissed for a moment before Kevin pulled away.

"I love you too."

Alex smiled as she looked out the window of the airplane. Kevin squeezed her hand and smiled at her. "Welcome to New York," she said. It's good to be home.
