I.
With one delicate
flap
of velveteen wings,
the butterfly changes the world.
Brown gives way to
brilliant blue
gives way back to brown
and two lives are changed forever.

Perched peacefully on the Tree,
like a blinking Christmas light:
brown
blue
brown
blue
he suckles gently the
blossom
where the Apple grew last year.
He must know now of their
metamorphoses.

Brown
Blue
Brown
Blue

Divine fingers sculpt
mountains out of
salt and pepper curls.

Brown
Blue

His sighs are thunder,
his kisses, fire.

Brown
Blue

II.
Heartbeats more
ephemeral
than the butterfly's wings,
but eyes locked
for eternity.
Brown on blue
Blue on brown,
together,
their gazes
Created
a whole World.
