It was quiet. To quiet king sharaman decided. Just as he stood to go pursue that thought there was a loud crash. The king could not with hold the cringe that spread across his face. There was a ringing silence, then "Dastan did it"
"I did not Garsiv"
"You did too"
"Not"
"To"
"Not"
"To"
"Not"
The king sighed as the shouting match continued between his two youngest sons. It was just beginning to turn dark outside, the sky turning a beautiful, soft pink. Peaceful one might describe it except for the fact that there was a screaming match being held. He stood and headed towards the noise, finally rounding a corner and pausing at the sight before him. They stood about two feet apart, Garsiv leaning over Dastan and shouting down at him. Dastan not to be deterred at the height difference stood his ground and shouted back equally as loud if not louder. Garsiv's face was turning an alarming red and Dastan looked about ready to blow up. In the corner lay the forgotten broken vase that began the whole thing.
"Boys" the king called, his firm voice resounding around the room. Both young boys jumped turning to face their father guilty. Garsiv stood tall and proud, puffing out his small chest and not quiet meeting his father's stern gaze. Dastan seeing Garsiv, followed suit but grinned up at his father. The king suppressed the small smile that was determinedly trying to break free.
"What happened?" he asked
"Nothing" both boys answered instantaneously, the king raised his eyebrows glancing between the boys and the broken vase. Ah it was... no had been a magnificent vase but with Dastan and Garsiv around one became used of things being broken. However what made up for it was generally the stories told of how it was broken.
"Really?" he asked again
"well you see, the thing is" Dastan began, he may have been the smaller of the two boys but whenever there was trouble and a tale needed to be told to weasel out of said trouble Dastan could be counted on "myself and Garsiv were walking down the hall together, peacefully mind you" he added "when there was a shout from behind us, both of us reacted turning around to find a massive beast like creature bounding towards us," by this time in his grand tale his hands were waving about and his small face was animated as he continued " we only just threw ourselves out of the way as it barrelled past us, but very regretfully said vase you mentioned earlier was not so lucky. Unfortunately it was destroyed in the beasts escape but do not fear father Garsiv and myself will hunt down the beasts our self"
He finished his story beaming and looking quite proud of himself. All the king could do was smile, he had faced many trials throughout his years but when faced with his son's, most of the time he was at a complete lose.
"So if you would excuse us father" Dastan continued "we must head off to find the beast"
"Of course" the king replied graciously, sweeping aside to allow his sons past. As they both swept past him he heard a brief mutter of "I never liked that vase anyway". He grinned as they walked away breaking into a run before they had even reached the end of the corridor. Ah his sons they would either keep him young or send him to an early grave.
The king turned shaking his head about to head back to his study when again there was a loud crashed followed shortly by a "Garsiv did it".
