It lasted about ten seconds...
There were several of them, and she wasn't sure when they actually started, but once her brain stopped jumping Chloe started counting. Ten seconds, right? Something like that.
When their lips parted, she stared at his chin. It was easier than looking at his eyes. Her peripheral vision made note that she was holding onto his arms, and then her hands checked in to tell her the arms were very strong, muscular; just as a healthy bowman's arms should be. But knowing that and knowing that were two very different things.
How long had it been now?
"Chloe?"
The tone of his voice was a mix of concern and confusion. She moved her head up a bit, but the sight of his lips brought a ton of emotions down upon her and she let go of him before turning around. Chloe stared at the computer screen. There was a faint reflection of blond hair just behind her and it wasn't moving.
"Chloe, I'm sorry if—"
"No, I'm just—"
"Scared?"
Chloe's brain nodded, though she didn't. She stared at the floor instead. Her shoulders relaxed after a while, and then her heart made its presence known. It was beating a lot quicker than usual.
She realised why when he clasped her hand. He stood right in front of her and pushed her chin up with two of his fingers. He smiled at her, squeezed her hand and kissed her forehead.
Then he let go. She was staring at the computer again.
"Oliver?" she turned around to see him standing a few feet away. She smiled slightly, "Pizza or Chinese?"
He grinned back at her, "You choose."
"Pizza it is." As she walked towards the phone, Oliver grasped her elbow. Chloe instantly tensed up and then forced herself to relax. Her brow rose, "What is it now?"
Oliver's fingers stroked her arm as his hand dropped, "Are we okay?"
"Yeah," Chloe's head nodded. "But food will help. We need to—"
"Talk," Oliver nodded.
Chloe smiled as she shook her head. "We need to think. We need to think about—" she daintily put her fingers on his mouth before he tried to finish her sentence again. "Us."
