Everything was silent. No one was speaking. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The small crowd of people sat in the docks, not saying a word to each other. Then a scuffle of footsteps could be heard from a distance as two men brought in the prisoner from his prison. The prisoner was tall and unshaven wearing a black suit and sporting a sullen look looking older begin v his years. The prison was Max Branning.

Max was on his second trial after being wrongfully convicted for killing a young woman called Lucy Beale, whom ironically was not only the daughter of his former friend but had once been his own lover despite being twice her age. She also had been his daughters best friend and had died tragically two years earlier. Her body had been found in Epping Forest outside of Walford and many believed it had been a robbery gone wrong. However unbeknownst to them Lucy had been murdered at the hands of her own younger brother Bobby who had hit her over the head with her jewellery box but his stepmother Jane had moved the body to cover for him. Max had finally discovered the truth the year before but no one believed him and he had gotten 20 years inside. However in light of recent evidence given, today was the date of the retrial but Max was disappointed at the amount of people who had turned up. Ian, Stacey, Jane, Denise,Shirley, Mick and Linda had been the only few that had turned up and Max saw that neither of his daughters had turned up. This saddened him. His mind was playing tricks on him as he could hear people muttering and whispering.

"Max Branning, you have brought here in light of New evidence emerging in relation to the murder of Lucy Katherine Beale. I have witness testimonies and prices of evidence that may possibly prove your innocence. Until then you remain in the eyes of the court as guilty as charged by law, do you accept these terms?" The judge declared and Max stared at him for a few seconds before slowly nodding.

"Yes I do."

Stacey was first to the stand describing her past with Max and the fact that she had once been married to Maxs deceased son Bradley. Max had been surprised by her arrival as she had recent battled mental illness after the birth of her baby but he was pleased she was here. Mick then gave evidence stating that although he knew that Max had a reputation as a womanizer he knew that he would never kill anyone. Linda said exactly the same thing and Max wondered if today he would walk out a free man but still It seemed there wasn't enough evidence to set him free. He felt as though he would always be the guilty party. Then one of the barristers stood up just before the Judge delivered his verdict.

"We have two witnesses who say they may have more evidence that could prove Mr Brannings innocence and they are waiting outside the court to give this piece of evidence and plea on behalf of Mr Branning."

The Judge nodded and The Barrister shouted,

"Call in Mr David Wicks and Miss Carol Jackson."

Everyone gasped as did Max when he saw his elder sister walk in holding hands with his nemesis and her childhood sweetheart. This was make or break for him.
