Walking along the wide path of the zoo Skipper could hear the birds of Central Park singing their song. It was late spring but still a cool breeze swept over the zoo stopping then pushing on once again. The sun still shined on over New York, though. It glimmered off of the stones in the path so slightly that you could only see if you looked right down at it. The sky was a light blue scattered with clouds flying solo. Upon passing the Zooviener shop he heard mort's laughter. Obviously coming from the lemur habitat, judging by the distant echo in the sound.
He was heading back to the penguin habitat but decided to take a quick detour around the zoo. The team had already patrolled the zoo once today but he just wanted to enjoy the nice weather while it lasted. There weren't many days like this one. It seemed so clam and serene. His mind drifted far from his walk to a certain otter. Four times this week, already she had come to visit the penguins. Just to say hi she said. He actually enjoyed her visits more than he probably showed but that was beside the point. Young private always was the first one to greet her. He was so quick to show his kind spirit and always the bright side of the team. He was passing Burt's habitat now. Sometimes he wondered what it was like to be such a great big animal. He imagined it to not be much of an advantage when in combat but still…
Determined to get home before the zoo opened, Skipper hurried along. He could see the black railing around his HQ now, but when about ten meters away he stopped and looked towards the otter habitat. Marlene was nowhere to be seen but he was almost certain he'd see her today. Hopefully. He wondered if she thought about him as much as he did her. It had crossed his mind before. Him and Marlene together. But never did he delve deeper into that than this thought now. Maybe some other day, but for now he'd pick up his pace again and continue home.
Not too long just a little Skilene tidbit I thought of while avoiding school work today. Well, in other news I plan on posting a longer story sometime next month, Skilene too but not completely centered on it. Anyways review!
