There was a knocking at the door. Eddie got up, exasperatedly and opened the door.
"Oh, if it isn't Blabs," he says, in an annoyed tone.
"Will you stop giving me goofy nicknames?" Patricia says back, looking at him in an equally annoyed manner.
"Stop doing goofy stuff," he answers.
"Just shut up for a second," she said, walking into the room. Eddie turned to face her, crossing his arms. "I've come to apolo... I've come to apol..." Eddie raises his eyebrows. "I mean, I was re... I just want to say s..." Eddie smirks. "No, I can't do it. You're a doofus!" Patricia finishes.
"Worst apology ever," Eddie says, amused.
"I'm not sorry! 'Cause I didn't do anything. I kept your secret." Eddie sighs. "I'd keep any secret of yours. Yeah, I was mad at you, but I'd never do that." Patricia looks at him for a second, and then walks out the door, only to reappear a second later. "And; the fact that you think I would really makes you a doofus." She grimaces and leaves.
Eddie smiles and shakes his head. He is thoughtful for a second, and then calls out, "Patricia, wait!"
Patricia appears for the third time, and raises an eyebrow, as if asking 'what?' "I'm sorry," he sighs again. "I should have known you didn't do it. I mean, it's like you said, 'you don't rat people out." They both give a small smile at the memory.
"So you believe me then; that it was an accident?" she questions hopefully.
"Yeah," he steps closer, "I believe you."
"Well, that's good," Patricia says, feeling awkward and nervous, because she's never been in a situation quite like this before (or maybe it was the fact that Eddie was standing really close, and she could smell his cologne).
"It is," he says, grinning and stepping closer, gently placing his hand on the back of her neck. Patricia's heart was pounding so loud she hoped Eddie couldn't hear it. "You ready for that second kiss?" he asks, quiet and soft. Patricia looks up at him nervously. Eddie slowly leans forward until their lips are just millimeters away. Patricia feels his breath and just as their lips are about to touch, the door bursts open and Patricia jumps out of the way and into Eddie. He catches her but then she releases herself from Eddie's grip, turning to face the intruders.
"Oh, um, sorry," Fabian stutters, his and Nina's faces as red as a tomato.
"So, uh, you guys are good again?" Nina asks awkwardly.
Patricia glances at Eddie and replies, "Yeah, uh, we're good." Fabian and Nina nod. "What about you and... you know," she says, looking at Eddie, not wishing to discuss Sibuna's missions in front of Eddie. Eddie looks confused.
"Oh, yeah," they nod, "he did it."Nina nods and smiles.
"What are you guys talking about?" Eddie asks, lost.
"Oh, uh, we just needed help hanging up a picture in Nina's room," Patricia makes up. She'd always been good at lying on the spot.
"Okay," Eddie says.
"I'll go look at it," Patricia says, looking at the fellow Sibuna members, wanting to talk to them about what had happened with Joy.
"I guess I'll see you later then," Eddie says.
"Yeah, I'll see you later." Patricia smiles and then walks out the door with Fabian and Nina, closing the door behind her. When she is gone, Eddie stands there, thinking about what had just happened. Then he smiles and walks back to his bed, happy.
