Perfect Picture
Summary: Kakuzu and Hidan have another argument. Kakuzu storms out and remembers when the picture was perfect.
"Fuck off Hidan," Kakuzu growled, walking off the porch steps.
"Kakuzu!" Hidan screamed, running through the door. "Kakuzu please! Don't leave me!"
Kakuzu ignored him, slamming the truck door once he was in. Hidan ran outside as the truck drove away.
"Kakuzu!" Hidan shouted.
Hidan sobbed and tried to wipe away the never ending stream of tears as he staggered back inside.
Kakuzu grumbled angrily as he drove to the local bar. Parking in the parking lot Kakuzu paused to collect himself only to beat his fist a couple times on the dash board. Taking a deep breath, Kakuzu reigned himself in and got out, slamming the door closed behind him.
Walking inside Kakuzu took a seat at the bar, never taking his eyes off the counter. The bartender walked over, he was an older gentleman with a warm smile. The name tag read Kisame.
"What can I get you?" Kisame asked, smiling in a friendly matter.
"A new life," Kakuzu grunted, looking up.
Kakuzu happened to notice a picture behind the bartender. It was of the man with what seemed to be his husband or boyfriend with two twin toddler boys. They were all smiling and laughing.
"Like that one," Kakuzu pointed.
Kisame frowned and glanced at the picture before smirking slightly. "Hey, it wasn't always the perfect picture; but there were some perfect moments," he said.
Kakuzu paused in surprise but the smiled slightly. He could agree there.
Looking through the high school courtyard and hearing that angelic laugh.
Looking into those amethyst eyes during their first kiss.
Touching that silky smooth skin when he said yes.
Holding that lithe body when they made love.
Kisame smiled. "Still want that perfect picture?" he asked.
Kakuzu smiled as he stood. "No, I've got my own."
Sitting at the kitchen table, Hidan shivered as he hugged himself and sniffled. Where did they go wrong? Hidan was sure they'd be forever. Maybe true-love really was for fairytales only.
Hidan's head shot up at the rumble of the truck engine.
'Kuzu?'
The door slammed open. "Hidan? Are you home?"
Instantly Hidan stood and ran to the foyer; he stopped at the doorway, holding himself. Kakuzu looked so guilty and ashamed as he walked over to his husband and gently cupped his face, wiping away the fresh tears.
"I'm sorry," Kakuzu whispered sincerely, looking into the gemstone eyes he fell in love with.
Hidan smiled reassuringly. "No relationship is perfect," he replied.
Kakuzu's eyes widened briefly before he closed them and leaned his forehead against Hidan's.
"Yes, but there are some sure as hell prefect moments."
