I don't know how long this has been sat on my computer unfinished, but I thought it was time to publish it. It's not very happy it's set after 'Shadows'
Nikki made her way slowly to her desk which she sat down heavily on; it had been a long hard and terrifying week. The week had started with her and Harry lamenting the loss of their youth and quickly moving to fighting for their lives. Nikki was more shook up about it than she dared admit, to anyone. She could barely admit it to herself or Leo and certainly not Harry.
When the first 'Pop pop' of gunfire had echoed through the building it felt like part of herself was taken away, her naivety and her ability to believe the best in others. She felt jaded and more cynical now, now the truth was out. People did horrible things, and people were convinced and brain washed into doing terrible things. It had always seemed like something that rarely happened but now it was scary something that Nikki had seen and witnessed.
She'd witnessed the wrong man die.
Because who is the guilty party, the one who follows blindly or the one who commits such an act who murders and lies and brain washes others. Is it the fault of the weak minded, or the ones who take advantage?
Nikki was not okay.
Nikki had thought she was going to die, first in a university building and then in her safe haven the Lyell centre.
And Harry. Now close had he come to death? Standing below that bomb… Nikki shuddered.
Harry wasn't okay either. Nikki looked up and saw him staring at her, shadows under his eyes the same as the ones under hers. She started to tremble.
Then he was there, his arms around her- protecting her.
Just like he'd tried to protect her the other day.
"We're not okay are we?" Nikki asked.
"No" Harry answered.
So they just sat there, holding each other. Trying to protect each other from the world.
A/N Please review. I also just found out Tom Ward is leaving Silent Witness, I'm heartbroken. It wont be the same without him :(
